It would be neat if one day every pic in that spread is a former VV forumer.

Bit like an A-Team type of scenario? And they're being pursued across Canada by Mayor Ben Isitt and an elite squad of Non-Police Outreach Workers and Parking Ambassadors?

I'd say it depends which particular VV forumers we're talking about. You may disagree but I'm starting to feel like there's somewhat of a difference of opinion on this board re: the merits of cycling generally. I think some forumers might be more comfortable on a bike than others would be. Just putting that out there. I may be way off with this.

🚔 Beacon Hill Park Bicycle ‘Chop-Shop’ Under Investigation🚔
Victoria, BC – VicPD Patrol officers are investigating after a suspected bicycle “chop-shop” was discovered in Beacon Hill Park earlier today.
At approximately 9 a.m. on July 14th, Patrol officers attended a secluded area within Beacon Hill Park to investigate tips from the public of a bicycle “chop-shop” in the area. The officers located a large number of bicycles in varying states, bicycle parts, and other property including power tools, industrial torches and propane tanks. Photographs of the area are included below.
This file remains under investigation.
🔹How to protect yourself from bike thieves🔹
One of the best ways you can protect yourself from bike thieves is by recording your bicycle serial numbers and, in the unfortunate event your bike is stolen, report it stolen to police.
We often locate bikes that are abandoned or likely stolen, but are challenged to return them to their rightful owners as they haven’t been reported lost or stolen.
You can register your bike with us for free through our VicPD Bike Registry. Forms are available here: https://vicpd.ca/ser.../bike-registry/. You can either drop the form off in person at VicPD Headquarters at 850 Caledonia Avenue, or email it to reserves.reserves@vicpd.ca

Victoria, BC – A Victoria man faces recommended charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after being arrested by Patrol officers early this morning.
Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 1900-block of Douglas Street just after midnight for a report that a man had pointed an assault rifle at someone. When officers arrived, they located the victim, who described the rifle as resembling an “AK-47”. The victim reported that the suspect had brandished the rifle in the building parking lot and had threatened him. The victim was not physically injured in the incident.
Patrol officers searched the area and evacuated a nearby group of people for their safety. Officers then located both the suspect and the rifle. The suspect was arrested without incident and transported to cells.
The rifle is a replica M4 carbine.
Officers are recommending charges including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

I'm wondering where the bicycle chop shops go during the interval between each tent city exercise?
Nothing indicates an enlightened & environmentally aware city quite like heaps of junk in the main city park. Those pics resemble the early stages of an illegal dumping site. Maybe Victorians in the year 2040 will be enjoying the "Beacon Hill Landfill?" It has a nice ring to it.

To be fair, these are "the most vulnerable". Surely they have a right to defend themselves from other vulnerables.

Well there used to be a fun little diner and a moderate priced hotel. Not sure what's there now.

Tax payers pay to dump them. Then they start accumulating new bikes all over again. They don’t need the bikes they steal.I'm wondering where the bicycle chop shops go during the interval between each tent city exercise?

^ why not just put your name and phone number on it?
On a bicycle? Considering how often it would change hands from one thief to another, I'm pretty sure that would constitute a personal privacy breach.
