“Almost Identical” – Two Suspects, Witnesses Sought After Robbery

Date: Thursday, October 1, 2020

File: 20-38743

Victoria, BC – Two suspects, described as almost identical, are being sought by Patrol officers after a man was robbed in the early morning hours of September 27th.

In interviewing the victim, they learned that he was in the 500-block of Broughton Street at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 27th when he was attacked from behind by two men unknown to him. He was rendered unconscious during the attack and contacted police after he was transported to hospital. The victim also reported having been robbed during the attack.

The suspects are described as “looking almost identical”. They are both described as Caucasian men, aged between 30 to 40 years-old, with slim builds. They were unshaven, both wore baseball caps and had “raspy voices”. One of the men was on a BMX-style bicycle.

This incident remains under investigation.

In interviewing the victim, they learned that he was in the 500-block of Broughton Street at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 27th when he was attacked from behind ...

That 7-11 on the corner is open 24/7, and is a constant magnet for the dregs of the downtown core.

It's a strange location for the riff-raff to congregate, but they're not only all hanging around that block at night ... most of them are hanging around (or trying to get inside the store) all through the day as well.

I won't go in there anymore to pick up a snack during the day.

They crawl all over that store, and I've never seen anybody out on the floor cleaning up after them ... I'm the first to admit I quit going there because I was terrified to touch anything, let alone buy it and carry it back to my office to plunk down on my desk.

Victoria police are looking for witnesses after the fishing line was found strung up at neck height on a building in the 1200-block of Johnson Street.

That’s across the street from Coolaid’s Johnson manor and 1-2 blocks from the our place homeless housing across from the central middle school.

That's an amazing story of a bank robbery at Yates and Government (where the Starbucks is now).

I looked up the name of one of the cops that was shot and accidentally found another amazing story not mentioned in the article: seven years later the son of the cop was arrested for an almost identical bank robbery/hostage scheme gone wrong. Harold Hemstad and his teenage buddy were arrested at VYR before they could board their plane to Hawaii. Almost all the money the boys stole was recovered. The name of the judge that sentenced them?

Dramatic news items that involve unbelievable coincidences, suggestive surnames, and unseemly headlines... once you start noticing them, you can never go back.

🚔⚠️Victoria searching for man with Canada-wide warrants; believed to be armed; involved in machete-wielding incident at Stadacona Park⚠️🚔

Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are asking for your help as we work to locate wanted man Chadwick Wsiaki.

Chadwick Wsiaki is described as a thirty five year-old Caucasian man, standing six feet tall with a slim build. He has brown eyes, short dark brown hair, a short dark brown chin beard and often wears a black ball cap. He has a script tattoo reading “stay strong” on his right forearm. Photos of Chadwick Wsiaki are below.

Chadwick Wsiaki is believed to be armed and is wanted on Canada-wide warrants. He is a suspect in a series of violent incidents including two alleged assaults with weapons. One of these assaults with a weapon occurred in Stadacona Park on Saturday, October 5th, where he is alleged to have brandished a machete after assaulting a woman. He may be in Victoria-area parks where others are camping and sheltering.

If you see Chadwick Wsiaki do not approach him and call 911.

Does using a machete fall into the CoV Together Victoria's "survival crime" mulligan?

Perhaps the city could hire him to limit the number of Christmas decorations people try to put up?.......or perhaps a new Machete Mayor?

Wait aren't we supposed to have compassion by realizing that he likely has a history of trauma and abuse and that he's the real victim on a societal level? Or something? I can't keep up with how the narratives are supposed to go these days.

Seriously though hope they find him.

^ I think everyone can agree that he probably needs help, but the reason that the Housing First narrative is failing is that the help he needs is more than "Housing First".  If those at UVIC purposely decide to oversimplify an issue, it doesn't make reality go away.  That reality is that a portion of the homeless are a danger to themselves and others.  Full stop.

It isn't *just* "bad people that prey on the homeless" move in.  It isn't "as soon as someone gets a home, they will stabilize".  That is naĂŻve and is emotional ideology not becoming of what is supposed to be a higher level of learning.
