Man released from prison in LA, travels to Victoria, causes damage to buildings in downtown and in Esquimalt.

Now let’s watch and see if Black Press re-writes this press release, publishes it, posts it to its social media, then lambasts people for sharing this information to social media.

Victoria, BC – A man who travelled to Victoria from Los Angeles, California has been arrested after a series of mischiefs at two different locations which have resulted in thousands of dollars of damage.

Officers from the VicPD Patrol Division and the Integrated Canine Service responded after multiple people called 911 just before 2 a.m. this morning to report a disturbance at a multi-unit residential building in the 1600-block of Quadra Street. Callers reported that a man was throwing rocks at the building and smashing windows. When officers arrived they observed a man inside a suite, throwing a television through the suite window to the ground below.

Police Service Dog Zender was deployed along with Patrol officers in an effort to contain the man and determine if anyone else was in the suite and at risk. The man exited a suite window and was confronted by officers and PSD Zender. Hearing PSD Zender’s barking, the man gave himself up and was taken into custody without incident or injury.

While being taken into custody, the man told officers he had committed a mischief at another location in the 800-block of Dunsmir Road in Esquimalt prior to this incident. Officers investigated and located damage at that location as well.

During the course of the investigation officers learned that the man had been released from a correctional facility in Los Angeles, California a week prior. He then made his way to Victoria, where he targeted two locations for the mischiefs.

The man was transported to VicPD cells to be held for morning court. While at cells the man made statements which caused jail staff and officers concern for the man’s mental health. He was transported to hospital for a mental health assessment.

No one was physically harmed in the incidents, but the cost of the damage is estimated to be significant.

This file remains under investigation.

If you have information about this incident and have not yet spoken to officers, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

So now Victoria is attracting international criminals. Gee, I wonder why they'd choose to come here?

In related news, well done CBSA.  <_<

Victoria, BC – A man was arrested by Patrol officers this morning after he chased two security guards while armed with a knife.

Patrol officers flooded the area near a multi-unit residential temporary housing facility in the 3000-block of Blanshard Street just after 10 a.m. this morning after a security guard called 911 to report he was being chased by a man wielding a knife.

The security guard and his partner reported that they had discovered the man outside the building and asked him to leave. The man responded by brandishing a knife. He then chased both guards while wielding the knife. One of the guards called 911 while being chased by the armed man. Neither of the security guards was physically injured.

Patrol officers located the man nearby a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers siezed a knife while searching the man.

The man was held for court and faces charges related to assault with a weapon and breaches of court-ordered conditions not to possess knives.

Allegations of sexual misconduct have surfaced online against an NHL player.

The woman has spoken exclusively to Glacier Media and has identified the individual as Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen, 24.

“I couldn’t believe that I said no and he didn’t take that for an answer,” she says. “I felt violated and gross and wanted to leave.”

Glacier Media has agreed not to identify her due to her fear of public backlash. For the purpose of this story, we will refer to her as ‘Emily’.

Wanted Man Arrested After Foot Pursuit, K9 Track

May 3, 2021 - File:#21-16964

Victoria, BC – Police Service Dog (PSD) Jonny and the Integrated Canine Service (ICS), working with Patrol officers, arrested a wanted man after a foot pursuit on Saturday night.

At 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1st, Patrol officers were called to the 900-block of North Park Street for a report of a man lying on the ground. Officers attended to check the wellbeing of the man, who reported that he was simply resting and not in medical distress.

Officers learned that the man was the subject of unendorsed warrants out of Saanich for breach of probation and theft. Before officers could take the man into custody he fled the area on foot.

Officers gave chase but lost sight of the suspect. PSD Jonny was deployed in the area by his ICS handler and he tracked the suspect to the 900-block of Pembroke Street, where the man was found hiding in bushes.

With the assistance of PSD Jonny, officers arrested the man without further incident. No one was injured in the incident. A photograph of PSD Jonny is available below.

The suspect, a 24-year-old man with numerous previous convictions for offences including robbery and assault causing bodily harm, was transported to cells and held in custody to await court.

I was half asleep at this time, but I did hear some of it.  Saanich is not sending North Park their best.

But by all means, let's encourage the encampments to continue to "ease the transition" for the squatters.

^ Welcome to Vic West starting today. The good thing about BC Housing owning the Russell St building is that it can be trashed and the public will never know. They will only put the best of the lot in SOFMC because they are on the hook for damages and the public would find out.
