One Arrested After Patrol Officers Respond To Multiple Overnight Arsons
Fire at Broad and View streets | 22-23546
Patrol officers were called to the intersection of Broad and View streets at approximately 3:40 a.m. for a report of an active fire. When officers arrived they observed two separate fires, one of which was against the exterior door of the Bay Centre building. Officers retrieved fire extinguishers from their Patrol vehicles and, after some effort, doused the flames. Victoria Fire Department firefighters responded and took over firefighting efforts. Damage to the exterior doors is being assessed. This fire was determined to be arson. Officers arrested a suspect a short time later. They’ve been held for court.

Additional Survivors Sought After Man Arrested For Multiple Saturday Night Sexual Assaults
Date: Sunday, June 26, 2022 - Files: #22-23806, #22-23801, #22-23802
Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking additional survivors to come forward after officers arrested a man after observing him commit multiple rapid sexual assaults last night.
Patrol officers were called to the 1100-block of Douglas Street just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 25th, for a report that a man was pushing and sexually assaulting people in the area. As officers arrived, they observed a man approach a group of women and sexually assault them from behind. The officers immediately took the man into custody.
As officers were speaking with the three women that they had observed the man attack, a woman and a female youth approached them and reported that the man had sexually assaulted them as well. This man is unknown to the women he attacked. While none of the women who spoke with officers required medical attention, at least one was struck with enough force to knock her to the ground.
Based on the initial call for service and witness information, investigators believe that the suspect sexually assaulted others who have not yet come forward. If you had an encounter with this man, or have information about this incident, please call VicPD’s Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
We want survivors of sexualized violence to know that we believe you. For information on supports for survivors, including options for reporting, please visit vicpd.ca/webelieveyou
The suspect has been held in custody and faces multiple recommended sexual assault charges.

Some young adult male should have punched this guy out.
So he was “assaulting people from behind in rapid succession”? Slapping butts? At least we know what will cause VicPD to hold someone in cells.

That’s what it sounds like. Some man should have stepped up.

A group of women could also have stood up to him, I'd think, but we don't really have the full story. This could have happened super fast and the guy be gone before anyone realizes what happened? I dunno. Does not take long for some idiot to come up from behind, pinch some butts or boobs, slap one hard enough to knock her down and take off.

Except police got an initial report, then arrived to observe more of the same behaviour. So presumably some time elapsed where they guy was still around the same area. Although it's right downtown so maybe police were there in seconds. On the same note, you'd think at Fort / Douglas at 9pm on a weekend there would also be capable bystanders.

Denise Allick was kind and caring, an all-round beautiful person who will be greatly missed, her friend Margaret DeGirolamo said Monday.
The slaying of the 40-year-old Victoria woman in mysterious circumstance last week in Nanaimo shocked DeGirolamo, who had been friends with Allick for 19 years.
“Denise was very energetic, enthusiastic, outgoing and a happy-go-lucky person. She would do anything for anybody to help in any way,” she said.
DeGirolamo said she also wants to know what happened to her friend. “Why? Why was she out there?”
In 2018, NanaimoNewsNOW reported that Allick had been the victim of fraud. In a Facebook post that was shared more than 9,000 times, Allick said a Nanaimo man had drained her bank account of more than $5,000.

Seems to me we read about lots of female "drifters" lately. Missing and killed. No clear background on their work or family etc.

Nanaimo RCMP:
Thanks to the assistance of the general public, a Nanaimo man was arrested with approximately 2 kilograms of suspected cocaine after he was involved in a motor vehicle rollover. The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 PM on Saturday April 16, 2022, at the intersection of Estevan Road and Departure Bay Road.
43-year-old Nicholas Harris of Nanaimo was released later that same evening on an Undertaking to appear on drug charges for June 10, 2022, in Nanaimo Provincial Court.
Police were alerted after several calls were received of a motor vehicle that had rolled at the above noted intersection, and that the driver of the vehicle had crawled out of the wreck and fled on foot. Several witnesses kept an eye on the driver and provided information on the suspects movement and location.
Several minutes later, officers arrived and located the suspect driver in the parking lot of Brooks Landing Mall. Officers initially detained the driver for impaired driving by alcohol however their focus quickly diverted after noting that he was literally holding in his hands two bricks of suspected cocaine. The drugs later weighed in at 2 kilograms. Harris was arrested and later released on an Undertaking for court in June 2022.
The vehicle involved, a newer model black Jaguar convertible, was seized by police and towed from the scene.
The officers who located the suspect were gobsmacked to find the suspect with such a large quantity of illegal drugs, said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP. The officers would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the bystanders who assisted officers by staying at the scene and provided real time updates which allowed investigators to locate the suspect quickly and efficiently, before he had the opportunity to hide or destroy the drugs, said O’Brien.
On June 10th Harris appeared in Nanaimo Provincial Court and was formally charged with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was released from custody with his next court appearance slated for late August 2022.
