^Nice. I learned of a friend of a friend who just happened to be travelling in Croatia and things are nuts over there.

It’s before 6 and I am a special type of drunk. My kids are watching le match avec an entire girls scout outfit dans un gité qui est un Château.

Not to mention Vancouverites...

Suddenly everyone in this town is a France fan. Funny how that works.

I'm still a little unclear if we are changing the name to football or if they are changing the name to soccer.

Apparently driven by the US owners wanting an NFL type scenario.

It won't happen.

The seismic move to shake up the world's biggest sport is partly engineered by the American owners of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United who also run U.S. franchises in closed leagues — a model they are trying to replicate in Europe.

The power-play came after the rebel clubs reneged on a promise on Friday to back the plan by UEFA — European football's governing body — to expand the Champions League beginning in 2024. The deal was designed to appease their wishes for more games, seemingly because they couldn't control the sale of rights to the existing competition.

The Super League plan was first leaked in January, but re-emerged this weekend.

Literally nobody involved in European football is saying anything good about this plan.

UEFA has said:  "the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams."

If you're Lionel Messi, do you stay at Barcelona if it means not playing in what is likely his last world cup next year?

If you're a Liverpool fan, are you happy to give up 2 Merseyside Derbies a year just so your team can play Juventus a couple times? Are you still able to make the away trip Madrid the same way you used to make the away trip to Leeds?

During a climate crisis maybe keeping the teams grounded isn’t such a bad thing?

Know it all.

This is definitely a battle of the titans. On one side you have FIFA and EUFA, who are corrupt as hell and generally pretty slimy in their dealings, and then you have the Super League owners who are all billionaires and oligarchs looking to squeeze more profit out of their investments because those yachts don't pay for themselves.

I typically don't feel too bad for any professional athlete making millions of dollars to kick balls around, but in this case, if they're a fixture for one of these teams, they are being put in a very uncomfortable position right now. This will get ugly.

putting aside the league play - when push came to shove here and professional athletes had to choose club play and international play in the winter olympics - they chose to skip the olympics.

if these pros have to skip the world cup they just might.

Chelsea and Man Citeh knocked out in 2 days. The other 10 must be starting to feel lonely.

It won't happen.
