Priority at this purpose-built facility will be given to children of students and the District believes a lot of interest will also come from school staff.

any chance to build a new daycare facility is a good thing... good daycares, and spaces in facilities are very hard to find and with the westshore booming much more childcare is needed

Province launches $10-a-day daycare at 53 centres

......Lexie Biegun, who owns Lexie’s Little Bears Child Care in Langford, one of the prototype sites selected by the province, said parents who used to pay $80 a day for infant and toddler care will now pay $10, a savings of $1,400 a month. .......

But children are optional luxury item?

Yeah it doesn't sit right with me either. So a handful of parents in Fernwood and the Highlands hit the lottery and get $10 a day daycare while everyone else (including every other parent with a kid in daycare) gets to pay for it. There are no plans in the near term to expand beyond the 53 centres either as there is no funding for it. Makes you wonder how they picked the 2 centres in Victoria and how the waiting lists are now being maintained.

The preliminary period will last through March 31, 2020.

Right ahead of campaigning season for the next provincial election.
