A little something for the Luxton Fair crowd if they ever venture into the city.

These facilities are actually pretty cool. I had the chance to scope one out in St. John's but unfortunately there were no slots available. The place was packed and they must have had about 10 axe-throwing areas.

Now take note that Axe & Grind is being pitched by the TC's crime reporter Katie DeRosa!

Not really sure where else to post this, but a coworker of mine discovered a sign for an "urban axe throwing club" on Broughton Street, across from Nautical Nellies. Which, it goes without saying, seemed a bit odd. And then this morning on the front of 910 Government Street, on the stairs down to the regal confines of the Burger King, underneath the Horror Escape Room sign was a sign for "Axe & Grind" (axeandgrind.org). Their website reveals the following:

"We are Victoria’s best (and only) urban axe throwing range! We’re bringing this quintessentially Canadian backyard sport indoors so you can experience something new with friends. Before each session, our experienced staff will teach you how to throw axe in a safe and fun environment, paving the way for a bit of competition amongst friends. Once you hear the satisfying thud of an axe into wood, you’ll be hooked. An unforgettable way to spend a birthday (birthday boy/girl play free!), corporate party, bachelor or bachelorette or any special occasion.

It’s like darts, but with an axe."

It goes on to state that they are officially licensed by WATL, the World Axe Throwing League.

Opens tomorrow. Not sure how smart it is to open such a club in the same building as the ICBC Driver Licensing Office.

Looks like they found a new location that didn't require a parking variance. I seem to remember an earlier business proposal out in Rock Bay

Interesting. They had originally planned top open up in Burnside-Gorge.

Axe throwing is a quintessentially Canadian sport?

I must have had a sheltered childhood as did everyone else I know. I used an axe, but it was to chop wood, not throw.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

You’d think these axe throwing places would be in the sticks, not in downtown Victoria. 🤷‍♀️

Agreed. Downtown Victoria is more about knives and crossbows.

Axe and grind has knives too, and the sports side has a liquor primary license now.

No matter the topic, VVers will always offer up some kind of self-serving complaint, criticism, grudge, beef, dispute, contention, etc. There's always a bone to pick.

I'm assuming y'all got the reference re: having an axe to grind.
