Only three months away now, might as well kick this off.

The IOC has suspended Russia from competing at the Games, though Russian athletes will be able to compete under the Olympic flag. Those Russian athletes who pass drug tests will be able to compete on the "Olympic Athlete from Russia" team.

Very interesting.

The men’s hockey tournament at the next Winter Olympics is already the first without the NHL’s participation since 1994, but banning Russia could diminish it even further.

The Moscow-based Kontinental Hockey League is widely considered the world’s second-strongest league, and it’s threatening to withdraw all its players from the Olympics if Russia is banned.

Russia would otherwise be the gold medal favourite thanks to ex-NHL stars like Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk, who now play in the KHL. Canada, the U.S. and other countries also plan to use KHL players, so losing them could deal a heavy blow to the audience figures of a tournament that’s already struggling to attract attention.

No NHL or KHL in the Olympics and it will look like the Spangler Cup. Europeans will watched a little bit, but most people won't care. A far cry from $1,000 tickets and the best hockey in the world.

It'll be interesting what happens with the KHL. Fasel has stated that because the KHL is a league incorporated under the preview of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (and therefore the IIHF), that they cannot withhold players from participating. This is unlike the NHL which is wholly separate from Hockey Canada or USA Hockey.

So in theory, if the KHL doesn't allow players to participate in the Olympics, then the IIHF could withhold Russia from competing in international tournaments.

I wish they would just cancel the entire olympics, nothing but graft, bribes and cheating.

The Russian cross country medalists didn't look too happy at the closing ceremony.  Must have been painful to see two Olympic flags being raised instead of the Russian flag.

The North Koreans must be in for a bit of a shock when they return home.  A very rare sampling of freedom and glimpse of how others live must have been shocking.  Then again, the North's propaganda probably has them conditioned to believe that it's all just a show.

Yup...well you know from the perspective of the totalitarian goons that run the show in the North, "freedom" = #fakenews#

"What happened with the Paralympics was so incredible and so inspiring to me. And I watched — it's a little tough to watch too much, but I watched as much as I could."

That quote is so confusing. Of course, every left winger is taking it one way, and every right winger another.

That quote is so confusing......

Nah, it's crystal clear what he's saying ... look up "ableism" in the dictionary ... it will clear things up really quickly.

We can add it to misogynist and racist as accurate descriptors of Trumps true character and personality.

He's one majorly disgusting human being.

Trump just appointed the first black Brigadier General, who also happens to be woman.

He appointed the first female director of the CIA.

He appointed an Indian-American woman as Ambassador to the UN.

He appointed the first openly gay man as an American Ambassador (appointed to Germany).

He appointed a Chinese-American woman to position of Secretary of Transportation.

Kirstjen Nielsen, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security; Dr. Heather Wilson, Secretary of the Air Force; Sarah Sanders, White House Press Secretary; Kellyanne Conway, Counselor to the President; Linda McMahon, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education; Jovita Carranza, U.S. Treasurer (also a minority and first-generation Mexican American immigrant); Neomi Rao, Regulation Czar (also a minority and daughter of parents from India); Seema Verma, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (also a minority); Heather Brand, Associate Attorney General; Kelly Sadler, Director of Surrogate & Coalitions Outreach; Mercedes Schlapp, Senior Communications Advisor (also a minority whose father was once a political prisoner of Fidel Castro); Ivanka Trump, Advisor to the President; Hope Hicks, Communications Director; Jessica Ditto, Deputy Director of Communications; and Dina Powell, Deputy National Security Adviser.

As far as promoting and enabling woman and minorities at the White House goes, he seems to have done a pretty decent job. Unfortunately most media reports won’t tell you that.

I must have missed the memo that says it's now OK to just forget the "grab 'em by the pussy" comment, the physical mocking of handicapped people by mocking a physical duplication of their uncontrollable actions, and over the top racism directed towards Mexicans?

So ... he can BE a racist, he can BE a misogynist, and he can BE the man who openly promotes ablism ... but it's "OK" for him to be all those things because he then indicates that he doesn't hate ALL races (only some), he doesn't think ALL women are his toys to grab (just most of 'em), and he only promotes ablism when the handicap is so severe that it's physically "gross" to him, so in effect not ALL handicapped people gross him out (only the ones who wiggle around a lot and aren't all there in the head gross him out, the rest are "OK")?

Makes sense I guess ... (can somebody forward me a copy of that memo, the one that says "human decency" is no longer a requirement of an American President ... thanks).

Well, now that you’ve got that out of your system, run a few google searches on those appointees. Try to wade through the MSM nonsense and do a little legwork to get a sense of the importance of some of those history-making appointments and what they mean to the furthering of women’s fight for equality.

LIke I said, the left will take it one way, the right will take the quote another way (that he's saying he's too busy to watch 'too much').

The phrasing is so awkward its difficult to decipher what he really meant. Donald does that a lot too, when speaking off the cuff.

Ummm, where is that written in the requirements? This is all that is required;

Qualifications for the Office of President
Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1
  • No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

Just to recap.

Trump may have had a one-nighter with a **rn star a decade or so ago.  Clinton did have sex in the oval office with an intern.

And he sold out the arena when he came to town. There were no protests, no complaints, just fanfare.
