The Sunglass Hut within The Bay has closed.

No surprise, in my many years working in the neighborhood I never saw a single customer in the Sunglass Hut, even during the summer tourist season.

I often wondered if they had to close the store each and every time the solo employee had to use the bathroom?

Just to clear, the SH is still open in the mall, just not the one that operated within The Bay (store).

I had some time last week to do a little bit of Christmas shopping in the morning and visited the Bay Centre.

Unfortunately, nothing was open aside from Winners and The Bay.

I didn’t know malls had such a late start. I see Mayfair and Hillside are also 10AM or 11AM depending on the day.

Am I misremembering that Bay Centre used to have an earlier start?

I think 9 or 9:30 used to be pretty standard opening.

At least you were able to avoid the mid-day crowds at The Bay.

Mid week mall opening at 10/11 has been normal for as long as I can remember. Some stores/malls extend hours close to Christmas but its typically staying open later, not earlier.

I think you might be right. I suppose I was thrown off by an open mall but everything within closed.

Well the mall has always opened quite early. By statute it is supposed to at least open the Broad doors at 7am I think.

All of the local malls open at 10.

The bay centre closes at 8 now on Thursday and Friday. It used to be 9.
