The driver of the semi-truck is uninjured.  This must be one awful crash scene.

How the hell can this happen in Saskatchewan, of all places? Fell asleep? I've been in those highways...so flat and straight.

14 dead, 15 injured. The team coach and a local reporter are confirmed dead. Some of the injuries are obviously devastating.

Did the bus hit the truck? Looks like it to me. Front of the truck looks not that damaged. Front of the bus is GONE.

Would it be safe to assume the bus rolled a few times?

HERE is the intersection of highways 35 and 355.  I suppose a crash might have occured here.

EDIT:  oh yes this appears to be the spot.

Looks like a standard prairie highway intersection. Truck blew the stop sign and bus hit the trailer?

That truck has a lot of wheels, what's the cargo spilled there?

So the truck appears to be a flat-bed.  And it possibly sliced open the bus?

That's what I'm thinking. That's why the driver is OK, his truck sliced the bus in two, obliterating anything in it's path.

The cargo looks to me like peat moss (?)

Trailer was a b train. Bagged peat moss looks like a good guess. The bus driver and anybody who was at the front of that bus is surely dead or in really bad shape. Jesus.

The bus was on the main highway, not on the highway with the stop signs? Right?

Right, bus was heading north on 35, truck was heading west on 335.

Apparently, much of Saskatchewan's peat moss comes from Carrot River, a half-hour drive away from the accident site.

The death toll has risen to 15.

The RCMP has confirmed that the bus was travelling north on 35 and the semi was travelling west on 335.

The semi driver was detained briefly but has since been released.

The semi truck heading west at 5pm on a clear, sunny day could mean the sun was impacting the truck driver's ability to see.

The southeast corner of the intersection is also heavily treed according to Google maps, which would not have helped the bus driver much in seeing the truck blow the stop sign.

Apparently there have been deaths at this intersection before.
