Units 35 and 36... they are two bedrooms. That's what I was specifically talking about.

Sidneys-Star-Cinema-to-close-this-fall-to-make-way-for-its-Cameo-appearance-in-2020.jpg

An artist's rendering of Cameo, a 45-suite condominium development coming soon to Third Street at Sidney Avenue in downtown Sidney. Cameo will be home to a modernized and expanded Star Cinema that is planned to reopen in mid-2020.

Sidney's Star Cinema closes this fall to make way for its 'Cameo' appearance in 2020

https://victoria.cit...arance-in-2020/

The starring role in Sidney’s urban transformation will get underway this fall as developer Casman Properties readies to roll on its highly anticipated Cameo condominium development, Citified has learned.

This fall Third Street’s Star Cinema will close the curtains on its two screens and will re-emerge in mid-2020 as a three-screen movie house anchoring Casman’s 45-suite residential complex at the intersection of Third Street and Sidney Avenue.

“We are thrilled to be involved with Star Cinema’s plans to reimagine the theatre experience for residents of Sidney and the Saanich peninsula,” says Bethany Hicks, Casman Properties’ Development Coordinator, adding that Cameo’s “architectural design through its use of cladding materials and eclectic angles” plays on the glitz and glamour of the silver screen to “not only serve as a landmark destination for moviegoers, but to also give Cameo a landmark presence.” [Full article]

The old theatre is a real throwback and a true community gem. It's often close to a packed house, and they do the best popcorn with real butter anywhere in the CRD. I hope some local history buff goes and takes a bunch of photos before they close shop. I encourage anyone on the forum to go see a movie there before it closes-- it's a great experience... these days it is rare to experience a locally owned (ie., not cineplex odeon) cinema.

IMAX Victoria (RBCM) is the best I've tried in the CRD. ;)

Is it going to remain independently owned?  It will be strange to have a new, modern theatre that isn't a Cineplex.

Yup! Sandy Oliver (the owner) will be setting up shop in a temporary location for two years apparently, and then moving her business into Cameo when it is complete. Not sure how the land ownership is being handled, as I imagine she owns the property.

Sidney seems to get it right most of the time. If I could afford to buy into that market I'd move there in a heartbeat.

I asked for pics at 10:34am and max.bravo jumps in the car, drives out to Sidney, finds a parking spot, snaps some artistic but tasteful pics, drives back home, then crops and adjust the pics and has them posted for our viewing enjoyment by 11:17am.

I think Mike K. might have managed to roll out of bed in that same time frame.

Don't do work for Mike K. unless you're willing to be paid generously and paid promptly.

Using proceeds from my Vibrant Victoria Associates affiliate marketing program, this month alone the earnings have covered all on-street parking costs in Sidney. I'm actively recruiting downstream associates, PM me for opportunities.
