One thing’s for sure, most Canadians will know of him. That can’t be said for many other senators.

An great man. Not flawless by any means, but he dedicated his life to serving his country.

His mother is still alive at 106!

Look up the McCain family, it's an amazing story. Four generations of John McCains in military service.

And with McCain's death, the last sane voice in the Republican party may have died.

Pretty much.   Watch this video to see how much integrity he had trying to refute the crazies:  https://youtu.be/3c-Ijky95dc

Cancer sucks, that said McCain was a total warhawk shill who was responsible for a lot of the wasteful interventions and killings in the middle east and was constantly pushing for more and couldn't accept that the Republican voter had changed

I'll just say that I wouldn't wish brain cancer on anyone. I'm glad McCain was able to make the decision to stop treatment and die on his own terms.

  1. McCain was wrong on almost every issue. And being a POW earns you the right to your opinion no matter how wrong.
  2. McCain was a decent human being who called bullshit on the "birtherists" and racists.
  3. GBM sucks.

That he specifically asked for Obama to speak at his funeral, and specifically asked that Trump not attend speaks volumes.

He was a honourable Republican Lion who believed his life was to be one of service to his country, and whose passing leaves Americans with a Republican Party filled with far lesser men and women.

Good lord. The man is dead and all some people can talk about is Trump.

That “lion” was butchered by the Democrats when he ran for president. Now he’s the greatest man who ever lived and who will ever live in the eyes of the very same people who only several years back despised him and everything he stood for. Why? Because Trump, duh.

In 2008 McCain labeled Obama a hardcore socialist sympathetic to terrorists(!!!!!). Today the media is running stories ad nauseum about this one time McCain ever so valiantly and heroically stood up for Obama when some dolt launched an insult at him.

he chose sarah palin as his running-mate and he was in favour of the mexico wall.  in many votes he was indeed not useful to the republicans that's why he's called a maverick it was hard to know where he'd go on each issue come voting time.  and yes he was pretty darned hawkish for those of you opposed to war.

That’s how the Hillary bandwagon got rolling. The Democrats lost their top when McCain chose Pallin and they feared Biden would drag down Obama. Hillary was the obvious choice come Obama’s replacement, although much to the chagrin of Sanders supporters who didn’t want more of the “swamp” and wanted a true socialist to face Trump.

Anyways, Obama was unstoppable following Bush’s reign and the 2008 economic collapse turned many Republicans against the party when the economy couldn’t sustain the American Dream. Obama, at least, promised hand outs. All McCain could do is to try and position Obama as bad choice with ideals that contrasted with American values.

That election was going to be impossible for any Republican to win as the the world economy had just collapsed.  Democrats have always typically done well during a recession

A complete and total traitor. Sang like a songbird to the NK, dropped a bomb on an aircraft carrier, ran on repealing Obamacare and then voted against repealing it.

That won't surface for a while yet.  The $1.5 trillion tax cut and $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill are propping things up....but you can't run an economy on credit forever

McCain was an American patriot of deep conviction.

Trump is an American traitor who is beholding to (and thus worships) a KGB spymaster.

The math is rather simple, and McCain pointed it out repeatedly.

Thus it's worth making note (in memory of McCain after his passing) that there are plenty of folks who saw McCain and Trumps true colours when McCain was alive, and there are still lots of folks who see McCain and Trumps true colours after McCain has passed.

He was in Vietnam not Korea, and I'm sure you wouldn't say a word after 4 days of continuous torture.

Actually he was a prisoner of the North Vietnamese hence the name of that conflict being the Vietnam War, and not the New Korean War or some such variation thereof.....

And even a cursory read of the official USN investigation of that 1967 fire aboard the USS Forrestal points rather clearly to the fact a rocket accidentally launched by a pilot - not named John McCain - ultimately triggered a devastating fire that  killed 134 crewman aboard the carrier, injured 161 others and resulted in the loss of 20 USN aircraft. It is a fact that McCain helped manually dispose of and dump several fused bombs overboard thereby helping to avert an even bigger disaster.
