After seeing it as a concrete structure for so long, it genuinely feels kind of weird to see the exterior finally coming together.

I realize that's the "back" side but methinks those cream-coloured sections would have benefited from either a vertical line or a scattering of panels in some other finish/texture.
FYI: in my casual conversation I'm now referring to this building as a wedge-idential development. It's very cute and amusing the first time I say it, but it gets progressively more grating from there. No one can say they weren't warned.

I wonder what the lowest north unit will look like compared to the highest one?

I think the vertical row of relatively narrow windows more-or-less serves this purpose. As you say, this is the back of the building and the soon-to-be-built, 15-storey, "dorm" next door will hide much of the Wedge's north face.

I was excited for the Wedge building shown in the renderings, but this is (so far) not meeting my expectations….I can’t help but think the architect of this building must be embarrassed at how much it’s changed from the original more sculptural look of the scattered window panels, especially on the south side.

Is this standard practice for under pavement drainage or is it in preparation for some other above ground feature?

I believe those are tree root boxes so the sidewalk won't compact the soil
OK that makes sense.

Oh neat. I was looking at these today too, and see lots of conduit running through them as well.

Does it also give the tree roots space to grow without pushing up the concrete? That's what I thought they might be for.

To prevent this kind of thing from happened? I'm guessing they're going to put a slab of something overtop and allow they soil to stay loose? Instead of tamping and then letting the roots grow underneath. I'm not certain what they're going to do I've never seen something like this before.

Give this place some of that Jukebox cladding and it would be the bomb (as Mike K. would say).
