Mike K. offers a cute slant on things, as usual.

I don't know, it seems a bit obtuse to me.

It looks like they're beginning to install panelling on the first floor façade. Some of the balcony railings have been half-built for weeks though, so maybe some supply chain issues are slowing it down...

Other, similar sized projects have started and completed in less time than when ground was first broken on The Wedge.

For a while there it seemed like the wedge was stuck in a trap. There were many strokes of bad luck.

Anyway, it was worth it. I'm inclined to say it's not a plane building.

Here's my official report re: the rendering versus the reality. The angled east face looks much better in reality than in those old renderings which showed way too many vertical stripes composed of green panels. In reality it looks really sharp. But the southwest corner looked much better in those old renderings than in reality. The actual nearly finished building has too many of those green panels in that area.

The panels on the north side are fine since that will effectively be the back side of the building when the tower next door goes up.

Care to prognosticate a completion date for this project?

I would say the end is definitely near.

I'd say this place has a really positive impact at night when the lights are on in the units. From some angles around town I'm actually surprised how much light you can see. Maybe ample glass coverage isn't a thing of the past after all. Even on the north side of the building where windows are fewer, there would nevertheless seem to be a fair bit of vision glass.

Final verdict: if they had dialed down the excessive use of green panels and mixed it up a bit with a more interesting flavour of panel or some other cladding... methinks this building would be a genuine standout. It's a nifty building, regardless. But I'm saying it missed being exceptionally nifty by not very much at all. Methinks 2 or 3 additional stories also would have made the angled edge seem a bit more dramatic.

Perhaps in 10 or 20 years when The Wedge is finally ready for occupancy, it will really add some interesting character to the neighbourhood.

I do agree that, like many of Victoria's junior high rises, 15 floors here seems a bit under height.

It would be more interesting if each of those arch things were different colours.

Devon Properties has it featured on their website and says move-in is Summer 2024 lol. Four full years from start of excavation to occupancy is kind of crazy.

Still no closer to occupancy.
