Four full years from start of excavation to occupancy is kind of crazy.
The local development scene moves fast enough to make your head spin except in those cases when it moves slower than molasses in winter.

Oh wow, it's quite thin from that angle.
Know it all.

Roof work has commenced on the McCall’s chapel building. Does anyone know what purpose this building will serve once the project is completed?
I think it is a commercial unit. Hopefully a restaurant.
Whatever this space is going to be, it will apparently have a new roof.

It's nice to see the old Chapel being retained in its original form, and that they are making an effort to replace the rotten wood etc. If you walk past the building right now, the original woodwork on the north side can be seen from the street and its quite striking!

I have to wonder if the extensive and persistent graffiti that currently adorns (mostly) the Vancouver Street facade of the chapel will still be a problem once the Wedge project is finally complete?
There will never really be many eyes on this area. Perhaps security cameras will be installed, but I am not sure if that will actually deter the "artists" who seem to have chosen this structure as one of their favourite downtown canvasses.

Newly-built 15-storey 'inclined' residential tower a first for Victoria; downtown on precipice of major apartment infusion

There has been zero progress on finishing the former chapel space over past few months. Completing this does not seem to be a priority ahead of renting the apartments. The chapel also remains terribly defaced with graffiti.

Of course it's not? This project has dragged for so long, they must be desperate to get some cashflow going. It's standard practice to prioritize tenanting over finishing amenity space or other contributions that aren't mandatory for the occupancy permit.

I am not sure it was really in anyone's best interest to preserve the chapel space.

That is not true Nparker. There has been some roof and siding work done to the chapel.

Yes about 2 months ago.

When we walked by yesterday, work was happening. Some on the roof, the soffits and the facades of the roof. The sidewalk area on Vancouver Street is also finished with actual trees and everything.

And how much graffiti was visible on the walls of the chapel?

Was able to freely walk in the underground parking lot a few weeks ago, Pretty vast, no secarity... This weekend junkies were having an open fire on the sidewalk at Vancouver/Pandora steps away from there.

A third floor three bedroom unit is listed for $5,500...
Imagine what you'd pay for a unit up high enough to have an unimpeded view of the mayhem along the 900 block of Pandora.
