Mayor Price in the Town of Sidney sounds absolutely shocked on CFAX right now. He is strongly hinting that he may call for some kind of investigation into the voting results.

According to Sidney’s website preliminary results he lost by more than 3x the votes. That does seem odd. Maybe the golden oldies really hated all that development

I find it incredible how poorly protected the municipal elections are. When I voted no one asked for ID or asked any questions.

On the flip side, Stew Young has been re-elected for the billionth time.

Do you get IDed at provincial and federal? I just showed my voter card and they all asked me to confirm my address and I go my card and voted.

Maybe it was the photo of him shaking Stew Young's hand in an implied endorsement. Let's see how it helps Geoghagan in Victoria. Possibility exists that it is a liability outside of Langford.

Rob Martin dethrones Carol Hamilton in Colwood. Only 2/6 councilors retained.

Of the nine mayors running for re-election, four were defeated.   That is fairly historic.

Price won with only about 1/3 of the vote in 2014.  His vote went down this time, 929 versus 1,312 in 2014.   He suffered from having only one candidate against him and as far as I could tell, he was out of sync with the community this time.

Thrilled to see that not only did local blowhard Scott Macdonald not win a Colwood council seat, he had the worst showing of all candidates.

A North Saanich councillor has announced her resignation just over one month since she was elected to council. In an emailed statement,  Joscelyn Barnard said that since she was elected, she found a “system that can be manipulated to silence persistent councillors and suppress difficult information through the use of in camera meetings, threats of publicly funded litigation, severance demands, and labour laws.” “This is not a healthy democratic environment for staff, council, or the public and I will not be a part of it,”...

Interesting.

Note that North Saanich's website only lists the mayor and two councillors under Mayor and Council: https://www.northsaa...MayorandCouncil

I've never seen such an empty information page for elected representatives.

Perhaps the rest of the North Saanich council names are held in camera.

Edit: Additional council information can be found here: https://www.northsaanich.ca/contact

Those biographies are from the previous Council term, so they're just really behind on updating. Oddly, they have deleted the profiles of some of the incumbents but not all.
