I don’t think [Ben] intended to seek federal office in this election.

I think middle-age white guy academics are pretty far down the NDP's farm team.

Although I dislike the casual racism/sexism/ageism of the older-white-guys-bad mentality, I support it in this case. Although I suppose one of his acolytes will get groomed for the job instead...

Didn’t a middle-aged white guy professor and coincidentally a former city councillor lead the party to its best election results ever, just a few years ago?

Do we think Helps will be the new Green party leader provincially?

I am fairly sure Ms Helps intends for her post-mayoral career to be more lucrative than provincial politics.

Yes, but that was back before a bunch of not-terribly-bright "woke" people decided it's perfectly acceptable to marginalize a person for being older, white and male.

Had crossed my mind too. I'm sure money is a big motivating factor, but ego, power, glory etc might add to the enticement of a new political role. Question is though, whoever gets appointed as leader, where will they run?

The Greens will need to find a "safe" riding. I am not sure Oak Bay-Gordon Head is a slam dunk going forward without Weaver.

True, the Doctor definitely has an Oak Bay vibe about him. Not sure if other Greens would fare as well there.

Lisa Helps could win Victoria as a green hands down.

It would be a battle for the ages, but I think helps could take it.

That would be awkward for the Mayor's Chief of Staff for sure.

Indeed. That riding has always been a tough nut to crack unless you're a member of the white shoe crowd.

Then they went and named a park after one.

Are we sure she isn't hoping to score the Victoria Beacon Hill nomination next year?
