So far there are four good candidates:

Janice Williams

Stephen Hammond

Gary Byers

Marg Gardiner

If they are elected, along with SA, we’d have the core of a competent council.

If Young decides to stay in, that could place the balance at 6.

Maybe Young is waiting for a more comprehensive list of candidates.

That should happen too, but clinics around the City is better for the populace...  Hospital isn't always easy access but there should be a non-emerg walk-in there as well..  Would help emerg lines too...

Most of the hospitals in the USA have walk in clinics within them, called same day clinic. You always see a NP or PA, but for anything serious there is always a doctor available.

“ According to Blacklock’s Reporter, Michel Juneau-Katsuya, former chief of the Asia-Pacific desk at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), told the Commons ethics committee, “There are elected officials at all levels whether it’s municipal, provincial or federal who are being paid by foreign governments and who are not necessarily acting in the interests of Canada.”

Juneau-Katsuya also said the problem was ongoing.

“Foreign agents try to recruit elected officials. It’s fairly easy because elected officials don’t necessarily listen to security guidelines to protect themselves.”

Anyone who’s grown up in Victoria will know about these access points. At least most of us will, certainly if you had friends in that area. They -are- marked, and they’re even identified on Google Maps (see below).

If you’re from the interior, which Dell is, you discover these little hidden secrets and think there’s more to it than a small access point in an area not equipped for 20 cars to park at that point. It’s not a big deal, but it’s a big deal to Twitter Housing, which believes there’s a hidden agenda in play.

Should we build a large parking lot there? Replace a house or two for a nice lot, benches, picnic tables and bike locks? I don’t really know what the point of this is, to create an issue for unmarked but marked hidden but not hidden beach access points?

What are we talking about again?

Of all the issues facing the next CoV council, highlighting public beach access is not on the list.

This is why housing discourse in Victoria has lost so much credibility. It’s no longer about housing, but a status and political battle.

You have council candidates calling average, even smaller sized, dwellings mansions. It’s creating an us and them scenario, it’s divisiveness in action, driven by a veiled desire to punish those who you choose to focus your efforts on. If elected, this individual is supposed to equally represent all Victorians, but already you see the goal posts being set and labels being used to identify the targets and create a negative connotation about them and their home. This is an anthithesis to community building and social cohesion.

This is why the name "Together Victoria" has always been so laughable. TV specialized in dividing people into "us and them". While they may be dead as an organized political entity, their philosophy clearly lives on in others.

It’s just the usual double speak. Their mandate is to divide us between the haves and the have nots. Equality isn’t about bringing the have nots up, it’s about bringing the haves down.

Mind you, the value of those houses is equivalent to a mansion in 99.999% of the world, and even in much of the CRD.

So tear them down so no one has them.... like a racist statue.  This programming is problematic. I always liked driving through this neighbourhood and house spotting and never once thought negative about the fact I would never live there.

What a pillock!  Mansions, my nether eye!  I get his point about people blocking rightful access to the foreshore, but to my mind, part of the beauty of Victoria is all of the little hidden pocket beaches, where one can go without getting swarmed by hundreds of people...

Keep in mind that Mr. Dell has a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Victoria. He probably did his thesis on the power of whining in contemporary political discourse.

Yeah. Just get on with it. Declare or say you’re walking away. It’s getting tedious waiting on this, especially with valuable pre-election marketing time slipping away.

Also, signs generally suck. You don’t need billboards advertising a little beach access path that is self-evident to all but people looking for problems suitable to their solutions.

Nah. There’s a home for sale on that stretch of waterfront for $2.85M. That’s bargain basement compared to Peninsula waterfront, or Oak Bay waterfront.

I don’t know if you can even buy a free-standing house in central Toronto for under $2 million.
