I think the workload is overrated. It can still be done as a part time job.

It can be if you ignore all of the calls and emails you get every day. Then people come on VV and Twitter complaining that the person never responds!

I would be interested in hearing from Jeremy or Stephen how many calls and emails a day they get.

Maybe if they stuck to local matters and not "fixing climate change" there would be less emails complaining....

Geoff Young was on council for 32 years.  He was first elected in late 1983 and served till 1999.   He ran in the election for mayor and cam third.   He came back in 2005.

Did he take a break before running for mayor in 2002, or did he run in 1999 and came back in 2005? I think he took on Lowe in ‘02?

He ran for Mayor in 1999 as a sitting councilor.      He sat out 2002 and then ran for council in 2005 coming 5th

Young:

Looking back, he said he is proud of the role he played in introduction of the 911 emergency response system, conversion of the abandoned CN Rail right of way into the Galloping Goose regional trail and pushing to ensure an equitable tax burden between homeowners and business and industry.

^ I don’t know. Hasn’t every single community in North America managed to get a 911 system going?

He said future councils will have to grapple with frustration being expressed about the state of the city, as Victoria has taken more than its share of the region’s social issues.

“I’ve expressed my frustration at some of the council decisions that I feel have led to us shouldering more than our share of the burden of supportive housing and supportive services,” he said. “It’s my strong feeling some of these issues are not being dealt with as health issues and even as criminal justice issues as they should be, instead they are looked at too much as purely housing issues.”

No kidding.

A caller on Stirling today criticized SA for not clearly revealing his position on Clover Point.  Fair comment I think.  Being vague about issues people care about leaves voters with an uneasy, suspicious feeling.  Same applies to the other candidates.

It shouldn't be difficult for candidates to voice a clear opinion on the future of Clover Point. Vagueness on this subject is nothing but pure politicking.

Janice Williams is the only person so far who has clearly articulated her views about changing Clover Point back to the way it was.

Janice is also the only declared candidate who has earned my vote.

She is using the word local which I like. I don’t live in Vic anymore though. I’m in the dog patch known a View Royal. Pronounced like “Royal with Cheese”.

SA is vague about most issues and he has lost my trust.

Here’s a question posed to me and other candidates earlier this month on Twitter from David Willows

“Question for candidates: where do you stand on reopening Arbutus Rd and the parking lot in BHP & Clover Point for ♿️? “

My answer:

“Thanks for asking Dave.

I'm not on Twitter much these days as I'm busy out knocking on doors, hosting various events, and meeting with folks.

Short and sweet: I fully support re-opening”

Not sure I can be any clearer.

Anyone can reach me directly and ask a question or call 250-412-8888

Thank you

Stephen
