Saanich property tax accounts have had levy's applied and for those of you with a MySaanich should be able to view your levy.

My Saanich general line item went down 2.79%. Saanich called for a 2.4% increase across the board and Saanich residential assessments went down 2.4% according to BC Assessment (My assessment went down 7.09% so my cross reference napkin math says things check out).

Planning Institute of BC awards were announced at the end of June. Saanich picked up a silver in the Excellence in Policy Planning - City & Urban Areas category for the 2020 Climate Plan, which was adopted in January of this year. via https://www.pibc.bc....llence-planning

So if Saanich (population 120,000) and Victoria (95,000) and Burnaby (250,000) can operate with 9-person councils, why would View Royal (12,000) need 7?

https://www.saanichn...cted-positions/

The Town of View Royal is considering increasing the size of its council from five to seven.

View Royal has more than doubled in size to just under 12,000 residents since the town was incorporated, making it the largest municipality with a five-person council in the province, according to Mayor David Screech.

His hope is that such a move would bring more diversity to council, in terms of people and the opinions held.

Is the job of a Burnaby councilor considered more full time?  Just wondering...  Looks like $78,000 salary in Burnaby.  View Royal is like $22,150...

^ So in Burnaby you earn (or taxpayers pay) $0.31 per constituent, per councillor.

In View Royal you get $1.84.

View Royal constituents don’t even know they live in View Royal.

If ever a municipality was a 3 dressed up as a 9 ... it's View Royal.

I guess Eagle Creek and the new Fire Hall has the Mayor believing that View Royal is now a major player in the CRD, and they need more folks on Council to run it?

Will View Royal ever be anything more than a small municipality you drive through to get back and forth to the Westshore?

Esquimalt and Colwood should just split View Royal down the middle.

Is it just me, or does View Royal complain the most out of all south Island municipalities?

Thetis Lake traffic, Thetis Lake cliff jumping, hospital policing, traffic, handydart, casino monopoly, private docks, traffic, too few councillors, sewage treatment, 50-50 winnings, traffic lights…

Well they have tried very hard these past 10 years to declare Highway 19A (the Old Island Highway) a neighbourhood no-thru street.  All they have managed to do is add a babbling brook through the centre of it, making it narrow so they can turn their entire municipality into a parking lot full of idling cars.

They sure made Wilkinson a parking lot. All it took was just a slight lane change at Watkiss and bam, instant congestion.

So even funnelling traffic onto the TCH is a touchy thing.

Here is a good example where we go from 3 lanes to 1.  Why add the bubble of concrete on the right hand side other than to deliberately bugger things up?  They at the very least could have had 2 lanes.  It makes no sense.

Why be part of the solution when you can prolong the problem?

Right, and on the other side of the intersection (the shopping centre side) they created an alignment that forces vehicles to stop if more than one vehicle wants to turn right onto Watkiss, they often want to do as that's the route to the hospital.

A dedicated left-hand turning lane for a dead-end lane, not towards the hospital.
