Well based on who she chooses then we will see if the MBA and 10 years requirement is upheld or was just used to justify a higher salary.

Ha ha, I would love to see Gene Miller as the Mayor's sock puppet or flunkie or whatever the hell this job is.

She could follow the Doug Ford approach. Once the comp is agreed, you reduce the requirements, hire a family friend, and then justify the decision on the basis that it is within the prerogative of the mayor since it is a political staff appointment. Easy.

As long as there are no forensic investigations conducted by this person, who will care?  :whyme:

...In five minutes, Mak was able to give her phone a three per cent boost.

In only 2 hours and 45 minutes your phone (made from non-renewable fossil fuel products) will be fully charged!
(assuming your heart, lungs and legs last that long)

There should be an option to pedal-charge a Nissan Leaf.  Or heck, en e-bike even.  Then they'll realize how badly we need site-c.

If you were pedalling at a decent speed you would generate about 100w of power. Pedal for 10 hours and you would save about $.12. Not bad for a $4k investment.

I like the spinning bench. Just as long as they don't start demanding their own separated lanes...😒

Council stood up to the Mayor this morning on her request to hire someone to run the office for her. Council voted to have Sarah Potts sit on the hiring committee (instead of just the Mayor and CAO) and to reduce the compensation being requested based on info from City staff on union salaries. The Mayor stated that she may or may not continue with the hire.

Will be voted on tonight.

Makes one wonder whether there was a candidate that this was being molded for. Good on council

The Mayor said there was not. She said though that she didn't want a junior person who she would have to supervise which is why she wasn't happy about having the salary cut.

Makes one wonder whether there was a candidate that this was being molded for...

The Mayor said there was not...

She also said she wasn't aware of information in the Elsner case. Take everything she says with a large grain of salt.

We need someone to supervise Helps.

With the casual attitude she's displaying in contemplating blowing off the entire idea of her Executive Operations Manager in the Mayors office, one really has to wonder how badly she needed somebody to fill that position in the first place?

It's got "pre-selected candidate" written all over it, but a pre-selected candidate that agreed with her on a salary of 120 thousand bucks, not 80 thousand bucks.

My guess is, now that she's been utterly rebuked by Council, she'll try to play it casual before letting the matter die down completely, then sweeping it under the rug for good.

You do have to wonder though, if this is the beginning of four years of Council slap-downs of Helps as she tries her best to re-make Canada and the World in her own image?

Have to wait until later today to see what the outcome was at the council meeting last night, but I would think that having one of the TV members added to the selection committee would have also been a big factor in Helps potentially deciding to back down.

While part of me relishes the idea of Her Worseship encountering resistance from her fellow councillors on everything she proposes between now and October 2022, my glee is tempered with the prospect of the even more vile ideas likely being cooked up by several other members of this odious cabal.

^ Sarah Potts is the most moderate of the TV group and both Ben and the Mayor are falling over themselves to win her approval.
