I just don't think it can get any better. It's this or nothing. This must be approved.

Agreed. Many on the CoV council do not know what they want. They wants more housing provided there is no development. They want the buildings saved while not allowing anything realistic to be done with them.
If this doesn't pass then nothing will.

but for comparison, if we measure the time back to the beginning of the universe on a one-year calendar, the first Northern Junk proposals came out on New Years Eve at 11:59:22pm. Reptiles appeared on December 23rd.

Which is of course ludicrous: Canary Wharf, one of the largest most important financial districts on the planet, comprising just under 100 acres and some 16 million square feet, commenced construction in 1988; the 'business' components, i.e. the principal non-residential buildings, were open less than four years later.
Meanwhile in Podunk by the Sea we grumble, fumble and bumble along as noted above arguing about "form" and height over two tiny crumbling structures on a property not much bigger than your average service station....

Wow, I wonder why Loveday voted yes.
As I mentioned earlier, there are two reasons: you send it to public hearing because it's a solid plan and you want it to succeed or you send it to public hearing because it's half-baked and you want it to fail.

I think in this case it is more like *sevence-baked than half-baked?
/*definitely a made-up word

“I do think that there are folks out there that are are willing to rehabilitate this building without such changes to it. So I have trouble sending it to public hearing at this point,” she [C. T-J.] said.

Kind of seems a shame that no one has been able to identify just who those people might be over the last several decades.

I'm so sick of this project. Either let it get built or the city should have to buy the land back at current market prices, and turn it into a bike lane museum or an underwater parking lot or something.

a new stripper bar might be exactly what we need to get out of this COVID funk. imagine the pent-up demand. it's the kind of stimulus lots of people will be looking for.
