Pics of the Redfern from sunnier September days than those we're enjoying at present:

Pics from today. I was scrutinizing the cladding as if I had never seen it before, but my previous post in this thread would seem to indicate that it was already there back in mid-November.

Can’t decide what I think of this one.
Obviously an improvement but not sure I like the cladding or the beams over the balconies.

On the plus side I'd say the variations in the cladding can look better than I expected, when the light is right.

This building would have been so much better at like six storeys. It seems chopped down.

It has a whole new look!

Yes, a complex approvals process.

Another example of how we forced the heavy hand of the government on housing. This should have been a slam dunk. Not a lengthy approvals process.

Know it all.

Is that one cage meant to be a different colour?

Do my eyes deceive me or is there an actual curved window on the ground floor corner? Wasn't there a kerfuffle about that re: the Janion? Do you remember? Is a curved window actually a curved window if the curve is composed of multiple panes rather than a single piece? No worries about such controversies here.

You need to check out that curved window on the ground floor corner. If you think that curved window is boring then you know what? Do you know what? It's because you're boring. You're a boring armchair design critic. (not a critic of the design of boring armchairs, but rather a boring critic of the design of all kinds of things, and you bore everyone while you're comfortably relaxing in your favourite armchair)

It's definitely conservative but not offensively so. And even so, it's still distinctive from the other modern buildings along the avenue. If I had my way I think there would be two different little buildings in this space instead of one longer building, but at least it doesn't stretch all the way from corner to corner.

The cladding can seem more varied and interesting depending on the light. Sometimes it can seem plain and cold and other times it can seem really warm and appealing.

In general I think I think I'm liking the way the avenue has been redeveloping. But I'll change my tune in a hurry if any of the other old buildings or houses get targeted.

I would have liked if the ground floor was higher.

I would have liked if the ground floor was higher.

That would be no problem for all the ninja warriors out there who can easily climb up, but what about the rest of us?
