No, the targeted group decides. In any case it is self-evident. Pocahontas is a slur. I've never heard a non-racist person think otherwise. This opinion is correct and widespread and commonly accepted. You are wrong, you failed to prove your point and the discussion ends. But thank you for participating.

Whether or not the name is officially racist or not can be endlessly debated: but when you got yourself elected by claiming you'd build a wall to keep Mexican "rapists" out, locked up immigrant kids and on and on and on, it's a safe bet that your base will love a nickname like Pocohontas. Racist or not, its quite possible that folks like the Island of Dr Moreau refugees you see behind Trump at every rally get much of their knowledge from cartoons.

In these moments of heated debate between fellow VVers, I like to remind that we're not all that different, each of us.

You know Ben Isitt is bad when people on this forum on such polar opposite sides of the political spectrum can universally agree on how much they dislike him. Doesn't matter if you love Trump, hate Trump, think something is racist, think something isn't racist...one thing we can all agree on is that Ben Isitt is an idiot.

Post of the day. A message of hope. Ben has brought us all together. :)

And I wish more effort was made to dig into the shenanigans going on in our own backyard. But we're told that's boring.

Imagine if the collective brain trust in this discussion put that much effort into uncovering the inner workings of Victoria council. It would be like a Colombo Meets Matlock in a Bar marathon.

Christ, that's the 3rd time I've "liked" one of your posts in this thread. Usually I hate you in this thread and love you in all the other threads
;)

Trump was wrong, Pocahontas belonged to the Algonquin tribe, Warren claimed Cherokee blood.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a dig at her claim of native blood, not a specific tribe necessarily.

And technically, she was a Powhatan. Algonquin is a group of languages, not tribes.

MixedFactual-1.jpg?resize=600%2C42&ssl=1right051.png?resize=600%2C67&ssl=1 RIGHT BIAS

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Right Bias sources.

  • Overall, we rate Townhall Right Biased based on story selection that always favors the right and denigrates the left. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to the use of columnists that have poor fact check records.

Detailed Report

Factual Reporting: MIXED
Country: USA
World Press Freedom Rank: USA 48/180

History

Founded in 1995, Townhall is an American politically conservative website and print magazine that was previously published by the Heritage Foundation. In 2006, Townhall was purchased by Salem Communications. According to their about page “Townhall.com is the #1 conservative website. Townhall.com pulls together political commentary and analysis from over 100 leading columnists and opinion leaders, research from 100 partner organizations, conservative talk-radio and a community of millions of grassroots conservatives.” TownHall.com features commentary by various conservative columnists and guest commentary by politicians. Weekly contributors include Ben Shapiro, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Marina Medvin, John Stossel, Dennis Prager, and others. Guest contributors have included Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Lara Trump. The current editor is Jonathan Garthwaite.

Read our profile on United States government and media.

Funded by / Ownership

Townhall is owned by Salem Communications, which owns numerous right leaning Christian based radio stations across the USA. According to Open Secrets Salem Media Group donates 100% to Republicans and right leaning PACS. The website is funded through online advertising.

Analysis / Bias

In review, Townhall almost exclusively publishes news articles that favors conservatives and utilizes strongly loaded language such as this: Shove It, House Democrats: Another Trump-Russia Story Blows Up. This story is sourced to the left leaning Axios and right leaning Fox News. In another article with loaded language, by Rush Limbaugh’s brother David: Abortion Extremism Exposing Left’s Moral Contradictions, there is not a single source listed to support Mr. Limbaugh’s claims.

In general, Townhall presents story selection that almost always favors the right and uses negative wording to describe the left. There is little balance in story presentation with all information favoring the right without presenting a left perspective or counter argument. The opinion columnists associated with Townhall have poor fact check records such as Michelle MalkinAnn Coulter and Ben Shapiro. Straight news reporting is generally sourced properly and factual, though worded to favor the right.
