Doesn't sound like an allegation. This is the title of the release with no additional information:

Media Advisory | Police Seek Wanted Father, Child After Abducting Child from Victoria

Maybe VW is referencing your quote from the northern BC murderers thread..."Btw, they are "alleged" to be dangerous criminals. They have not been convicted of any crime." That would apply here too, no?

From the release: "Investigators with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit began a comprehensive investigation. As a result of our investigation, Crown Counsel approved criminal charges on July 24th against [the father] Brent for Abduction and Disobeying a Court Order. Brent is currently wanted on an outstanding unendorsed warrant of arrest for those charges." via https://www.vicpd.ca/node/2266

This has become quite bizarre.

The daughter has been left with family members in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The father then travelled to Singapore, but his current location is unknown. RCMP are urging him to report to a Canadian embassy.

Absolutely. But that’s not the wording VicPD used, which is the point I’m making, as I did not originally include a directly quoted headline issued by VicPD.

The wording the VicPD used makes it sound like they abducted the child.  Also, aren't all criminal charges allegations until proven regardless of press release wording?

Of course that means that readers can just assume the presence of the implied "alleged" without being pedantic*.

* Something that I have never been accused of certainly.

Through efforts of family members and police, the child was eventually dropped off with her maternal grandparents in Jakarta.

The last time Wulandari spoke with her daughter was two days ago.

“She’s crying and saying: ‘I want a mommy. I want to go to the plane,’ ” a tearful Wulandari told reporters Thursday. “I said to her: ‘I will pick you up soon. Right now just enjoy with grandma and grandpa.’

strange.  the kid is now with the mother's parents.  not sure what the crisis is.

No money to answer 911 calls but apparently lots of money to chase after a father and his child in Jakarta.

the child is already safe and accounted for.  that's the bizarre part the chase continues.  not saying drop the chase but surely it's no longer an emergency that takes away local police resources.
