Nostradamus predicts 2020 and interpretation of those predictions are:
3rd World War, Vladimir Putin will be assassinated, Trump will suffer from a mysterious disease, big financial crisis and England will have a new king.

https://www.yearly-h...us-predictions/

Closer to home - what say you?

Local, provincial and national politics?  Perhaps an election?

Economy, will it boom or bust?

Environment, natural and not - pipelines? earthquakes? Fires? or run-of-the-mill drought wiping out fish stocks?

Maybe a rosie outlook?

Let's put it out there and then we can revisit next year this time see who nailed it.

Agree with about half of Vic Watcher's forecasts.  For the rest:

 - early warm spring, hot summer, wet cool fall

 - nasty and early wildfire season particularly on the coast

 - JACK-FM (103.1) will be the one that reformats, but into what I can't say.  Top-40 didn't work.  I just hope they find a way to get the canucks broadcasts back on there.

 - whether trump would win or lose becomes irrelevant when he's removed from office and criminally charged with one or more of fraud, treason, or perjury

 - - - pence then takes the helm and wins against any challenger

 - climate-change anxiety continues to grow, as do both thoughtful (good) and knee-jerk (bad) reactions

 - don't see any major local press shakeups coming

And for a few of my own:

 - canucks make the playoffs but don't get past the first round

 - whitecaps finish at or near the bottom of the table again

 - no major downtown roads get repaved this year beyond repair of the most blatant potholes

 - an incident of some sort during summer brings the horse-drawn carriage debate up yet again, leading to yet further restrictions but no outright ban

 - free youth bus-pass program generates enough uptake and use that the transit system cracks under the strain next September when schools and colleges resume

 - plans are announced to 4-lane the entire Malahat, projected completion date 2027, but eventually it never gets fully done

-Johnson street bridge will break down preventing it from being able to lift (but will be repaired)

-nothing will happen about crystal pool except more money being spent on the process

-the mayor will go on minimum 2 "climate crisis" business trips paid by the city

-Issitt will have at-least 1 hissy fit over people not agreeing with him

-city streets and underground infrastructure will not be repaired and 1 water main will break

-there will be a backlash over the city cutting down a tree

-the province will have to step in and tell city council to stay in their lane

- "free" bus pass program will have low collection numbers (much less then half) but they will keep trudging on with it even though it costs the city more then it needs to

Nonsense. It would take ten years just for the factories to crank out that much fake river rock.

Yikes, I thought Matt Damon would disappear first after another failed showing on Kimmel's set.

Sorry, no point. Technically that would need to be a 2019 prediction.

Technically, he stays on as leader until the convention in 2020. Can we get a referee in here? VAR?

He doesn't lose because he doesn't run. He doesn't win either. No point.

I meant he would lose the leadership as in he'd no longer have it. Which he won't. In 2020. So I call that a point. I'll also add my McKay becomes leader prediction to my list

Local MLA Adam Olsen says family commitments were probably the primary reasons for not running for the leadership of the B.C. Greens.

“I have a 12-year-old and a 7-year-old, and they are just getting right into that time of life, where they are going to need to have their parents around,” Olsen said Sunday.

“I have a really busy life, and taking a look at what the requirements of leadership are and the expectations of going around the province doing the work to build a party, I don’t want to add those duties onto the workload I already have.”

WELCOME to the last FRIDAY of the decade. Also, the end of the "hard-to-name" decades (200Xs and 201Xs). Next week we can start talking about "the 20s".

Is 2019 really the last year of the decade? Unless the first “decade” in the CE/AD was only nine years (the ‘0s)
