What a damn shame; passed from brain cancer, aged 67: https://www.cbc.ca/n...-obit-1.5422806
I never realized he was also the primary lyricist for Rush. Wow. Apparently he passed on Tuesday

I was visiting a small town in Thailand in 1989 and a white guy literally ran up to me; "Are you Canadian?!"
Yeah?
"Is Neil Peart OK? I heard he was sick!"
"I think he's fine--I didn't hear anything about his health lately".
"Wow, thank God!"

you might enjoy this very short (10 minutes) documentary: https://youtu.be/74fZvDQy06c
i did.
Neil Peart is Obsessed with sharing his experiences through words - like bicycling over the Alps (twice), the Pyrenees and the Rockies, and throughout West Africa. And since '96, he has traveled to every RUSH show, from Berlin to Buenos Aires, by motorcycle. Neil is also Obsessed with his 22" Paragon Ride. With its powerful, cutting bell and amazing expressive ability even at low dynamic levels, this is a cymbal that inspires.

That’s some amazing musicianship. If you like drummers, check out this video of Peart playing with the ever awesome Danny Carey.

As great a musician as Neil was, I will miss him as an author more. He wrote many books documenting his motorcycle travels between shows, and as a release for the misery brought on by the deaths of both his first wife and daughter. He also wrote about his passion for pedal-biking.
He was a gifted lyricist in many forms.
Thank you, Neil.
