Even though May 12 is brutally long from now I’m glad Tam throughout a date. Gotta start somewhere. I think the true measure of governments will be in how they lead the recovery. It’s one thing to shut down an economy, another thing to get it back

so looking at our deaths there.

and tracking compared to germany.  we have 63 today.

germany had:

68 total deaths march 20nd

84 total march 21nd

94 22nd

123 23rd

159 24th

206 25th

267 26th

351 27th

433 28th

at least 482 29th

so let's see if we track better or worse than that the next week.

I thought this video was helpful in making use of the data:
https://youtu.be/54XLXg4fYsc

(Especially because it thoroughly explains the limits limits and caveats associated with the data because I’ve noticed some people seem to have significant difficulty comprehending anything with any sort of nuance.)

They gave a date because they were told that unless the uncertainty was lifted, 2/3 rds of the businesses in this country were going to pack it in.

I doubt though that May 12th has been thought through any more than some of their other half baked recovery measures.

Canada's top doctor says this coming week will be a crucial time during which public health officials will start to see if the aggressive physical distancing measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are working.

Dr. Theresa Tam said she is keeping a close eye on Ontario, Quebec and Alberta — provinces where the coronavirus is spreading within the community — to see if there will be a decrease in the rate of new confirmed cases, as British Columbia has seen.

"I still think it's a little too early to tell because we are only at the end of March, but next week will be very important in terms of looking at those trends," said Tam at her daily update on Sunday.

Most people still don't understand what to look at in the data.   Obsessing about daily numbers is pointless.

Jens from MountainMath has been doing excellent work here.

His latest chart of deaths is extremely clear.   Italy has been doing a good job flattening their curve.

Bloomberg estimating that the size of the bailout announced in Canada will reach $1T with some economists suggesting that amount could triple.  As a point of reference, the Federal debt is $650B .

A few lives. How many lives are going to be lost when people realize their life savings are worthless, their private pensions bankrupt, and their cash devalued due to hyperinflation?

There is a reason why the military is now on "war footing".

Hyperinflation? That’ll make it easier to pay off my mortgage!

Health officials in British Columbia have reported that 45 per cent of those positive for COVID-19 have now recovered from the virus – a stat far greater than any other province in Canada to date.

But that is in part because B.C. has chosen to determine who no longer has the virus differently than other provinces seeing the lion’s share of cases, such as Ontario, Alberta and Quebec.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said during her daily COVID-19 media briefing on Saturday, March 28, that if a person with the novel coronavirus only exhibits mild symptoms and doesn’t have to be hospitalized then they are determined to be recovered once they’ve reached 10 days without showing any symptoms.

Guess that whole back to normal by Easter thing was a stretch...extension of current social distancing recommendations to April 30 out of his own mouth. Claims that peak deaths per day won’t even hit for another two weeks.

De Luca estimated 20 percent of the 5.8 million people in Campania have defied federal lockdown measures. The governor announced his own restrictions, banning all outside exercise and threatening anyone caught outdoors for non-essential trips to grocery stores or the pharmacy would be forced to self-isolate for two weeks, The Journal reported.

In a livid video address to defiant students who were reportedly planning graduation parties, de Luca said: “We’ll send the police with flamethrowers.”

now is the idea here that the heat from the flamethrowers wound stop the virus from spreading?
