To my point. Where would you rather buy an annual pass?!

I've already used my pass twice this year. It's well worth it.

“Malahat SkyWalk will immerse visitors in nature along a 600 metre-long elevated walkway through an Arbutus and Douglas Fir forest, leading to a 10-storey, architecturally-inspiring spiral tower lookout – the first of its kind in B.C.,” reads a description from the outdoor attraction.

From the top of the tower, guests will have an option to travel back to ground level via a 20-metre spiral slide as well.

somehow I feel that 20m is not 10 storeys.

would you get a carpet thing to slide on? almost all my pants are rubber and I’m not sure they’d slide well.

remember when sookie sams had a slide? I don’t remember it ever being open but they had one. I think fun city did too.

How big is the slide?

20 m or 65 ft tall. 50 m or 165 ft long.

I am not sure that totally ripping off tourists is exactly the best policy.

Climbing up ten stories with young children will be a delight for many.

lots of online reviews complaining that they don't allow dogs.

I'll give it a try.  $31.95 for a ticket is not that bad.

Last movie I saw at Silvercity I paid $20 to see an Imax movie, and I can't even remember what it was.

did you bring your dog to imax?

is the walking surface concrete? I suppose they do not want to have to hose it down to remove dog liquids and solids often. leaving a wet and slippery area. dogs might not understand they are “indoors” when it is so open. it’s quite open.

The T/C article runs counter to what the buzz is regarding future construction on the site (granted, it's just "buzz", nothing concrete).

Speaking with some contractors who have done work on the current attraction, apparently there are extended plans for more attractions to be attached to the Skywalk attraction (presumably similar to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which is actually a lot more than just the bridge).

Future development aside, my contractor buddies tell me that the actual chap who is behind this (along with the Malahat Nation) is no stranger to developing large scale tourist attractions.

Fair comment. I think the issue is that people who re travelling with pets won't / can't leave them in their car while they visit the skywalk.

yes I guess that’s a bit difficult. and many people going are stopping in between other destinations and not just arriving there like they would arrive at a shopping mall.

maybe they will figure something out.

the deck looks to be wood.

^^ cats are a different story, but the spca here runs a doggy daycare at the summer Saturday market, and it makes a lot of money.

If this becomes an issue with the Skywalk, there are some simple solutions.

some tourist places do offer a pet daycare or kennels for pets for travelers, i noticed this at barkerville when we were there...

i did check the FAQ page for the skywalk they currently list no pets "Later this season, we will be able to better assess how and if we can offer a safe and enjoyable experience for pets and people together" for me taking my dog would be part of the experience.. though he is a small dog and i can tend to get away with it... especially if he's in his backpack carrier

Note there is a height minimum on the slide (42"), so don't get any young kids hopes up. Can be a long wait for the slide too.
