Where did you see plans to reduce parking capacity by 25%? Or is that postulation to fit your narrative.

Well, there's a motion coming up to close 400 meters of the road three days a week...

400 meters = 120-130 ocean-facing stalls.

The concept plans shown angle parking on both sides of the road; correct me if i'm wrong but currently isn't parking mostly on one side only?

Sure, some spots may be lost on the ocean side but the overall parking should increase if parking is on both sides, no?

Also, maybe i missed it but i didn't see anywhere mentioning paving the gravel sections of roadway.... it's not unheard of to have angle parking on gravel surfaces; it just needs to be properly signed (angled curb stops also help).  I realize the concept sketch shows angle parking paint markings, but I personally would hesitate to assume that means paved parking, as it could easily just be the best way for a graphic designer to show angle parking (a top down sketch of a small sign doesn't really pop).

There's two things being floated right now - first is 'this summer's' 3 day per week closure of a 400m section of the road, and longer term are the sketched concepts presented.

"The City of Colwood is making a U-turn on its plan to close a section of Ocean Boulevard this summer."

OMG...how can you save the world if you listen to peasants?

It was not a smart idea. If we all go Victoria’s route and limit public access to public amenities, the end result will not be a positive one. The public deserves more access to these spaces, not more closures and limitations.

Took a Sunday drive today out to Sooke. Drove down Ocean Boulevard on the way out. Noted the food trucks.

Heading back from Sooke (after a stroll on the boardwalk and a very tasty flight of beers at Sooke brewing), discussion was had about where to get dinner. Lets see if the food trucks are still at the lagoon. Yes! Friend had greek, I had mexican, while sitting at a picnic table enjoying the awesome view.

The food trucks & picnic tables are a great addition. Nothing else needed. When driving through earlier in the day, the parking was packed. I would think that conveys folks like it just the way it is.
