We had a chance to chat with the operators of Niche Grocerant, a new concept that will prepare dine-in and take-out meals with ingredients from local restaurants, producers, butchers and delis.

Zambri's, Pagliacci's, Spinnaker's, and other dining hotspots, to prepare ingredients for Saanich dine-in/take-out venture

Is this not similar to what was tried in the former bbq kitchen space at The Hudson?

that was a commercial kitchen that they tried to lease to several operators.  that never sounded quite fight.  this is kind of the opposite.  several "commercial kitchens" (restaurants and butchers), decentralized, bring food to this location for retail.

the "to go" or prepared meals business continues to grow.  just look at what your higher end food retailers have in that way.  deli plus.

Exactly! Grocery stores make good dollar selling in-house prepared meals. Quality Foods does perhaps the best job out of all local chains.

Will be a welcome addition to Broadmead Village.

The location of an outside patio is hopefully hidden from that stretch of the main vehicle strip.  The parking lot, usually overcrowded and an line up of vehilces waiting to get out is not uncommon right at that spot.

Dig This was a neat little store, but I always thought that patio space was wasted. This should be a better fit. Agree on some sort of hedging or something to make the view better. Not much can be done about that traffic.

It is fun to sit and have a meal at the Mexican joint and watch the old folks trying to navigate the four-way stop in their Oldsmobile Aleros.
