The $500 is a one time payment for OAS for people 75 or older in June 2022.

ok, maybe this sounds a bit conspiratorial and,

perhaps i shouldn't have had that 3rd espresso this morning but...

...what if this is the scenario?

2015 election held on October 19, 2015....and 2021 election held on Septmeber 20, 2021

according to the MP Pension Act the simple dissolution of parliament does not mean a member is no longer in the house. they remain until the actual election date.

perhaps that one extra day , the first of the 12th month of their 6th year actually entitles them to be deemed to have held office for 6 years...

i mean, it is possible! ...  isn't it?!

The Progressive Conservatives will form a majority government in Nova Scotia as Tim Houston led his party Tuesday night to a resounding win over the Liberals, which have led the province since 2013.

Just saw another interesting John-related result: John A. MacDonald was narrowly elected in Hants East.

Hard to keep track of all of the goodies we are going to get post election. 2 additional weeks vacation, $5,000 a year for renters, free education, free prescriptions, free daycare, etc, etc.

Good news is that all of this will be paid for by a 1% wealth on people who are rich but too dumb to figure out how to structure their affairs to avoid the tax!

Personally, I might benefit from one of those things. Nothing is being offered to win my vote.

The Liberals continue to hold a lead over the Conservatives in national polling and would likely gain seats if an election were held today, but are slipping further away from being within reach of the 170 seats needed for a majority government.

The Conservatives are trailing in second and slowly closing the gap on the Liberals. The NDP also has some momentum and is poised to gain seats. The Bloc Québécois and Greens are holding steady but at lower levels of support than in the 2019 election. The People's Party sits at 3.6 per cent.

So a month from now the federal legislature will probably look much the same as it did at the dissolution of parliament. More of my tax dollars being spent on a needless election.  :whyme:

But far better than the alternative, which is a quasi version of the mess we’re in now.
