Guys, please beware of Valentines gift scams.

I ordered my girlfriend expensive jewelry, when they delivered it it was a brand new PS5, a skil saw, and an oil change gift certificate.

Don't be scammed.

seriously though.  it seems like nobody does much special around this town.

Speak for yourself. I take my partner on a romantic outing each year to Shoppers Drug Mart to stock up on discount Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Just make sure your festivities are covid-safe and Bonnie-recommended. ie, glory hole; no kissing.

^Yes, great advice. Safety first.

I’ve been asked to grill a nice steak and have beer on Valentines. I thought, omg, seriously? Then came the “what I’d really like though is for the laundry room to be repainted.”

check the slang dictionary for how that steak applies on march 14th.

*warning - do not google this.

So we had made plans to go out for Valentine's dinner at Sticklebacks on the water half way out to Sooke.  The plan was to get away for the day, walk the beach etc but they called to say they can't open today because of the snow.

I feel bad for them.  With all the past year of Covid and now being closed due to the snow.  They had put on a special menu which means that they had purchased all of the food etc.  2021 hasn't started off well.

I think we'll make a trip out there in a week or so to support them.

Varsha is also closed today, presumably due to weather.

I suspect that a number of restaurants either closed or had disappointing turnouts. Must be hard on moral.

2/3 of the country's restaurants have been closed since october (quebec) or november (manitoba) or december (ontario).  think about that morale.
