Isn't it entirely normal for politicians at all levels to add support to various campaigns? Not much of a surprise that the Secretary for Gender Equity would take offense against the anti-SOGI school board slate. How is the takeaway from this that the NDP base in Victoria is at risk of vanishing into thin air.

The NDP has zero risk of losing the seat. It’s likely that a Victoria councillor jumps ship to pursue the position, if Lore steps away from politics ahead of the next election.

So there very well could be a by-election in 2024, if the election is called early after Eby takes over.

Doesn't she have to step in before she can step away? As I mentioned in another thread, she is the only MLA who has recorded no expenses since taking office. Is she still on her leave of absence?! She has been collecting her full salary all along.

Worst part of all, she will be reelected with ease.

Not sure on that. Really. It depends on who she is running against - but, would not assume that it is a foregone conclusion. Even in the face of local election results.

If she's running as the NDP candidate, she will be re-elected.

She's very active on Facebook and Twitter, with almost daily posts.

I'm not sure how that translates into actually working for the people who elected her?

I would imagine in the post COVID era, having somebody running your constituency office from their home or apartment isn't as rare as it once might have been?

Really, it just prevents "walk-ins", which are likely not riding emergencies requiring instant attention.

Well then why are we paying for a downtown storefront if there are no walk-ins. Close the office..

Isn't she is paid 80k or so for the office. Is there even still a storefront?

I would think that staff would manage her social media.

I think it will boil down to who Eby wants in the riding.

If he thinks he's headed for a strong majority do you think he cares who represents part of the CoV? Is there a safer NDP seat anywhere else in BC?

I think that if he has a buddy he wants in a senior position in his government then he may have him or her run in Victoria because it is a safe seat.

It’s not all that common to strip an incumbent of their seat. I think she will be fine.

Indeed ... but if you look, you'll see her in lots of pictures in past weeks ... at various events and functions.

Just pointing out that there's proof that she's active in her riding ... even if her general and constituency office optics lead one to believe she's nowhere to be found.

It would be by mutual agreement. She would say that she wants to spend more time with her young family and the NDP would then quietly give her a 6 figure multi-year contract to do something meaningless.

You mean the same thing she does now.

Given that Eby has included Lore in cabinet, it is safe to say he wants her in the riding.
