With all those people being reminded of summer's coming on other threads.. it reminded me that despite having already race in "Kan U Hakit" - the 1500 km OC-6 Outrigger sprints and 5.5 km small outrigger race it's getting near time to:

"Wake up the Gorge" 2007

Does Victoria have an large amount of kayaking /rowing / dragon boating events or is it just a perception. I seem to know endless amounts of people involved in these pursuits but rarely hear about this sort of thing other cites

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

Have a view of the links from some of the local clubs... they show some of the clubs in other cities..

Outrigger..

Dragon Boat:

Have met people from Calif. Washington, Oregon, Eastern Canada Germany and the USA at the Vancouver (ALCAN) International Dragon Boat Festival..

Check out Dragon Boat West.. got the Google news reports about Dragon Boating in the world..

Rowing...

Well.. it's a big thing most places..

Yes.. other cities have people who make paddling and rowing sport their thing... it's just that here... some people can do it all year round... and we have the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival in the Inner Harbour every August... with many local teams and some from the Mainland as well as the USA...

The 2007 Island Iron OC6 and Trial By Water Small Boat Events

http://www.orspaddli...om/gallery.html

Ocean River Paddling Club is pleased to present the 2007 Island Iron/Trial By Water events. Island Iron will be held this year on June 9th and will be held at our usual location at Cadboro Bay. The small boat event, Trial by Water will be held the next day at Gonzales Bay. Both races are CORA cup point events. Registration/Waivers and the TBW add can be found here: Island Iron Click here http://www.orspaddli... ... Waiver.pdf
. TBW Click here. http://www.orspaddli... ... 202007.pdf

We ask that crews register in advance so we have a good idea of the number of crews. If you are racing in a category other than "Open" you have a registration deadline of June 1, 2007 at 5:30 pm. If a category does not have three boats in it by that date, that category will not be available. We will have a race package available shortly, so please do check back with this website.
