Canada's foster home industry was excellent in 1935, much better than the shocking example of government indifference it is today.
Sarcasm aside, Canada's child welfare system is sorely lacking today. Children are abused, sexually assaulted, and left uncared for under our present day system.

I'll take your expertise on the matter as my knowledge of 1930s orphans is limited to Our Gang and Little Rascals movies.

This week, Cowessess Chief Cadmus Delorme announced the discovery of 751 unmarked graves in the community.

keeps getting curiouser. removing the grave markers in the 60’s might be the criminal act that RCMP are willing to act on?

^ What I find worrisome is that the narrative keeps changing. So the issue is no longer the discovery of unknown graves it is that the markers that were in place were removed.
If it is illegal then fine it should be investigated, but lets remember that FN didn't use headstones to mark their own dead.

yes FN never used markers.

is the guy still alive if done “in the 60’s”?
Could be. I am surprised that nobody filed a complaint at the time however if it was so important.

In my mind, the underlying issue is the very existence of the residential school system — or more precisely, the intent of it.^ What I find worrisome is that the narrative keeps changing. So the issue is no longer the discovery of unknown graves it is that the markers that were in place were removed.
If it is illegal then fine it should be investigated, but lets remember that FN didn't use headstones to mark their own dead.

https://www.cbc.ca/n...ulate-1.6078260The Catholic religious order that operated residential schools in Saskatchewan and British Columbia where hundreds of unmarked graves have been found has made a formal "commitment to transparency" to disclose all historical documents in its possession that are related to the schools.
The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate operated 48 schools, including the Marieval Indian Residential School in the Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan and the Kamloops Indian Residential School in B.C.
On Thursday, the Cowessess First Nation announced the preliminary discovery of 751 unmarked graves at the former Marieval Indian Residential School.
The Tk'emlups te Secwepemc First Nation said last month a preliminary scan had detected the remains of an estimated 215 children near the former residential school in Kamloops.
The discoveries have sparked public outcry for full transparency from clergy involved in the residential school system.
The religious group had previously said it would release records pertaining to the institution in Kamloops, but Thursday's statement marked a "formal commitment" to "disclose and not block access" to records from all schools with which it was involved.

^ Aah yes the Mohawk Institute, another one of Kevin Annett's 'discoveries' where he tried to pass off animal bones as human remains. GPR was already used to scan a part of the grounds and nothing was found.
Kamloops discovery reopens concerns about former Mohawk Institute (tworowtimes.com)
You don't have to have ESP to know that every couple of weeks we will get a report of more 'bodies' being found. The FN and their supporters will be motivated to keep this story in the forefront as long as they can. With the 'evidence' produced being as weak as it is to date, they will need to rely on quantity rather than quality to convince people that there must be something to their claims. I trust that the Kamloops final report will be released on Wednesday and we will finally get to the bottom of what occurred there at least.

Two Catholic churches burned down on First Nations land in Similkameen region
Two more Catholic churches on First Nations reserves in the Similkameen region have burned to the ground in early morning fires on Saturday. Chief Keith Crow, of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band, says St. Ann’s Church east of Hedley and the Lower Similkameen Indian Band church near Keremeos are destroyed. This comes after two churches were set on fire in Osoyoos and Penticton earlier in the week.

no hate crime investigation?
can we lower flags for 4 days?
Father Thomas Kakkaniyil, the priest in charge of St. Gregory’s Church, said Sunday had been the first mass at the church in over a year — due to COVID-19. He said the church had daytime security for the mass, but there was no security overnight.
“Somebody from outside came and burned it as I understand it,” Kakkaniyil said. “It was done on the Osoyoos First Nation land but not by those people. It was somebody else.”
