The middle class happened because of cars?

Are you sure it wasn’t the middle class, that could suddenly afford cars, that made all of those cars happen? And absolutely, cars allowed people more freedom and more choice. That holds true to this day.

We are still avoiding the elephant in the room, and that’s the centralized employment node. Until we disperse employment, we are going to struggle with housing, traffic, and cost of living issues. Too much work is concentrated in too few places. That’s really at the crux of the issue.

The internet has allowed us to disperse lots of work already. More work on that is certainly required.

True, I have friends that moved to Thetis island after the hubby landed a high paying remote job.

Iromically, as jobs disperse, or go mobile/home based, people appear to be moving “down” the density ladder. Ie, Vancouverites move to Victoria, Victorians to Cowichan, Cowichan residents to Qualicum, and so on.

Not much activity on the site, hasn't change much since that August picture above every time I drive by.  I haven't seen anyone working the last 3 times I drove by (over the past 3 weeks..)

Is all going smoothly?

Came here wondering the same thing because I know someone who purchased pre-sale .

Can't find much from TLA's social media, but no signs of any legal holdup on the CSO website for this development.
There is quite a bit of legal action on the CSO website surrounding their Saltspring Development "Summerside Village" with multiple contractors alleging failure to pay for work completed.

To add : Ketza Pacific used to be officially listed as the prime contractor on TLA's website. But they seem to have been scrubbed from the project completely, save for some old social media posts.

Any truth to these claims about funding for this project getting pulled?

The concerns over the multiple corporations I’m not sure are warranted without seeing more details. Virtually all developers develop each project under a different corporation.

Still no action on this property since last spring. TLA's Saltspring development seems to be stalled as well , with the construction management company that took over for the first one is now suing them as well as the first.

Also curious on an update. The developer (TLA Developments) has really trimmed down their team over the past few months. Within the last week, two partners appear to have left the company.

I would guess this project is likely delayed indefinitely

The Bank filed start of foreclosure procedure on the Skyeview property on March 8th 2023.
According to the filing, TLA Developments' Troy Grant and Christopher Bradley are The guarantors of the Mortgage and have been defaulting on the Securties/Mortgage since October 2022.

I saw Blackrete construction crews at the site today. That’s a positive sign!

Who is "Skye" and why would someone want a view of him/her/them?

My friend drove by after the mention of an excavator but only saw a small forklift and no other signs of work, like an office/first aid/toilets. Is it possible Blackcrete is pulling out? Tla have stopped communicating with their buyers and sales team and is mired in legal and financial troubles so it's hard to imagine they are getting back to work.
