An exhibition of my paintings will open today at Polychrome Fine Arts from noon till six. They're at 1113 Fort St., just a few doors east of Cook St. next to Kilshaw's auctions.

I'll be there most of the day so come by and say hi and see some odd and interesting art. The show runs until June 16.

I encourage everyone to go see "Ride the Cyclone" before it ends its run here on July 17. Think "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" meets "Corner Gas" meets "GLEE" (kinda-sorta). Produced by Victoria's own Atomic Vaudeville productions, IMHO, it's a show worthy of Broadway (perhaps with a wee bit of tweaking here & there). The young cast is very talented, the tunes are memorable, and the small stage is imaginatively used. You'll have a great time guaranteed.

Ride the Cyclone (July 5 - 17, 2011)

It's a comedy, a tragedy, and a musical ride as a teenage chamber choir
from Uranium, Saskatchewan die in a roller coaster accident at a traveling
fair. Karnack, a mechanized fortune-telling machine, feels responsible for
the young choir's demise, and gives the teens a chance to express themselves
to the world after death. Ride the Cyclone is their final recital, where they
celebrate their individuality while coming to terms with their untimely demise.

Thirty-Five Thousand Forty is the physical culmination of Mike Andrew McLean’s project to shoot ninety-six photographs a day for three hundred and sixty-five consecutive days. McLean’s year of photos, now printed as 4”x6” snapshots, will tile the interior of Open Space, forming a sprawling record of the artist’s life from June 2010 to June 2011.

Yes, over 35,000 photos on display in one room. You have to see it to believe it.

Open Space, 510 Fort Street, 2nd floor

Noon-5:00pm
Tuesday - Saturday

Free admission

Not really an art exhibit but if you're downtown today, drop by Island Blue at Fort and Quadra and check out their 100th anniversary exhibit today only. There's lots of historic photos and vintage maps for you history buffs, including some of the original Davenport maps. Come quick, it closes at 4 pm. today.

Moss St. Paint-In tomorrow.

If you've been living under a rock and you haven't attended, you really should. It's a spectacular event!

Surely that top photo was taken down at the harbour, near the Tourism office, and not in Bastion Square.

I agree, you can see the causeway wall at upper right, and the building at the left is the old Black Ball terminal that is now Milestones on the lower levels.
