The $81 million does not include the land purchase, I presume? Other costs will also presumably be shared between all three towers.

Also, the Province is building a supportive housing tower immediately across the street on a surface parking lot for residents of the City Centre hotel.

Will one of the towers in this project still be condos, or is Chard making both of the ones they'll own into rentals now? The TC article only seems to mention rentals.

Lots of rubble piling up as they tear down the motel. I was going to treat the kids to a Flintstones marathon tonight but they've seen so much rubble today they're no longer interested.

The view implies an entire neighbourhood of desolation.

I haven't been following this closely but I thought a housing unit was to be built on Discovery prior to demo of this site.

I think that may have been an earlier plan, but I suppose the residents of the hotel were accommodated elsewhere.

Walked by this morning and the progress is impressive ... looks like they are just dealing with rock, didn't see any clay.

Ya that’s all rock there. Like the arena site. They removed so much when they built the new one.

Friday February 20.

The previous week there were angled soil anchors being drilled under Caledonia.

That whole area is full of turn of the century homes. It’s a heck of a piece of history that is completely overlooked.

Looks like Hydro is flagging the overhead wires along Douglas.

Thank you!

Is this the largest construction site in recent downtown Victoria history? I think it might be. The site is larger than the property east of the old HBC store, and larger than ensign Chrysler’s lot, and slightly bigger than the Fountain Tire site on Chatham.

Would Humboldt Valley be the largest since the Bay Centre?
