Recently read a news article about a Ukrainian woman restarting her children's swim business - BabyLadySwim and thought it might be neat to have a thread on local businesses that are being restarted in Canada by refugees.

Note - this lady is currently fundraising for seed capital for her business: https://www.gofundme...nnababyladyswim

Is her husband a traitor? How was he legally allowed to leave the country?

I can’t support all newcomers unless they come clean with their stories.

Men were required to stay home in order to fight.

I know some VVers take issue with my opinion on this. I welcome discussion.

Unless you actually know this family personally it might be better to reserve judgment of her husband .

These people do not need my permission or need to come clean about anything to me .
Welcome to the country of my birth I appreciate you working to support yourselves
Good luck on your venture.

V W I think we will all understand if you don’t choose to buy child’s bathing suits from this family and would rather purchase ethically made children’s suits elsewhere.

Their story is just that it belongs to them .

Only my opinion

I’m friends with a Ukrainian family whose son just came over as a refugee. Indeed he had to stay hidden in his apartment for several months before coming, lest the Ukrainian army find him and conscript him. He snuck out of the country: any fit 20-something man without kids has to in order to leave.

I am extremely proud of people who stay in Ukraine and fight men and women . People who know nothing about fighting a war fIghting and dying for what they believe in . I do not know under what circumstances this father and husband is in Canada . I am trying not to assume anything. As for not supporting these newcomers until they come clean news flash you are already supporting these people   through taxes . This family is trying to support themselves instead of relying on government handouts . This family is trying to start over building an independent life .
My hope is Canada is never in a position that the Ukraine people find themselves in .

My hope is if Canada ever is, young men stay to fight. Not abandon those that can’t fight.

There comes a time men must stand.

Hi! My name is Mykyta, I'm Anna's husband. I'm here to say that we are not scrummers. For people who'll have additional questions - please contact me in Facebook - https://www.facebook...tarodubcev.niki

1. Am I a "traitor" - No.
2. Do I legally left the country - Yes.
3. When I left the Ukraine - on April 14th. Then we returned back on May 24th to sell the car to be able to buy tickets and come here. So the second time I oficcially cross the border was May 24th.
4. Why was I legal to left the country - because I have a dissability (this can be proved by showing official documents, ilnesses history etc.).
5. How do I feel myself since I left Ukraine - happy because I'm with my daughter and wife and guilty because lots of my friend are there. It isn't a simple question. And there is no right answers. I do my best to help people in Ukraine in the way I'm able to do this right now.

The task bellow shows that sometimes understanding of right and wrong depends on the exact situation and you relation to this situation.

The train is coming. The paths diverge ahead. On the first branch sits your husband/son/daughter/grandson (one of them). There are 10 builders sitting on the second branch. The train can’t stop. But, you can choose which track he will go - that is, choose who will survive and who will not. What will be your choice? Will you save a life of your daughter and let 10 builders die? Or, you save 10 strangers life, and your loved one will die. What will you choose? And then make your  choice when you can choose between 1 stranger and 10 strangers. Will it be easier?

I understand there are many reasons to judge my decitions - and I'm open for disscussion. But please don't judge this fundraising project - please spent 5 minutes of your time by following all the links mentioned in GoFundMe to confirm that BabyLadySwim story takes beginning years ago and it has a chance to be continued.

Thank you for all your oppinion.

Regards, Mykyta

Not every soldier must fight at the front. In fact 4/5 of military jobs are supply etc. well back from combat lines.

If you love your country you must stay to defend it, despite your disability.

If you dismiss your country, you do not care…. Well not sure what to say.

Do you not love your country?

How can you turn your back on so many millions of Ukrainians counting on you? For their very lives.

I can’t see your point of view. Despite my attempts to see it.

Ukrainian cowards leave Ukraine. I can’t see it any other way, and I’ve tried.

You have to put your life - yes your very life - on the line for your country now. You must put your very collective country of citizens above your solo self and family and self interest. It’s rare to be asked to fight. But when you are, you must step forward as a Ukrainian and agree to fight. Despite any shortcomings.

Every man that leaves makes is harder to win this war.

You will be forever judged accordingly.

Cowards must be considered as traitors when your own home country - your very own soil - and the millions that inhabit it, are under attack.

It takes a special type of cowardice to abandon your own people by the millions.

Based on some type of claimed disability.

I had friends leave Canada for fear of a forced vaccination policy and losing their ability to make a living if refusing to submit. We stayed regardless of whatever was going to come. It’s also ironic that Ukrainians got a free pass to travel here without proof of vaccination while us Canadians couldn’t even fly domestically.

But hey, welcome to greener pastures…

I’m just thinking of the poor Ukrainians.

IDK. Two truths can coexist. What you say is true. But it’s also understandable to flee. In the end it’s about your connection to the land and your community and your ability to survive. Family becomes ones priority when faced with such hard decisions. Pride and valour can take a back seat if there is no love of place and the community you are in.

No. Family can take priority when it’s in a different land.

When it’s your home to protect, you must step up, be a man.

Anything less is cowardice.

I can’t read it any other way. I’ve tried.

Men must fight.

Cowards will flee.

A bunch of you will say “this special circumstance or other”. I say no. Men fight. Cowards and traitors flee. Period.

Hundreds of thousands of Canadians and Americans said “no” when the fight wasn’t even here yet.

Ukrainians MUST take up arms now.

Those that refuse to should be held as lesser citizens.
