I found this article quite interesting:

Plans for overnight-camping sites add to growth pressures on Bowen Island

A proposal from Metro Vancouver to purchase almost a square kilometre of forested and waterfront land on Bowen to create a park with 100 walk or bike-in overnight camping spots has raised apprehensions among islanders

The article is about much more than just the campground proposal.

The article also talks about perhaps a passenger ferry. Does anyone really know why BCF doesn’t run passenger ferries? Is there no business case if you already have a car ferry on the route? For example, what if BCF ran a couple passenger ferries on the even hours between Nanaimo or Victoria to Vancouver?

Passenger ferries are a curse for islands. They bring….you know…..passengers.
