Here's an interesting advoacy tool that came across my lists today..

Especially in light of our chats about the sewage stuff and land pollution etc..

http://www.pollution...rg/mapsearch.do

Who’s Polluting Your Neighbourhood? Global warming. Smog. Asthma. These are just some of the serious environmental and health problems caused by pollution. Now, you can find out which facilities across Canada are polluting the most. Check out the updated PollutionWatch web site.

And, you can do something about it. Send a free fax to the federal Environment Minister asking him to get serious about pollution.

Create a map of polluters near your home.

Hmm I can't get anything other than just a normal map to show up. How do you get the pollution overlays working?

Have to put in your address and the radius that you want to search..

I did my search using "all" for the pollutants.. the "default" condition..

I started with 10 km and then 20 km..

Awesome!
Wiki-pollutor patrolling.
Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.

Now to figure out what it means to our health..

Especially since so many people are telling us that paying to mitigate pollution is bad for our financial health..

Jeepers, I think we must have crashed their server! I had no trouble logging in an hour or two ago, after you posted the link IBA, but tried it a couple of times just now and get a 500 Internal Server error message back. That's at their end, isn't it?

I would think so..

The newsletter - assume big readership, with the link arrived shortly before I posted it.. so some of us may have had the benefit of being "swift of key"..

The link seems to want the http:slash-slash preface. I can't get to it with just dub-dub-dub, but it works fine in full:

Looks like there's lots of interesting stuff to explore there!

Usually when people talk about air pollution it's mostly about soot and other particulates.

But as Baro noted, the stinky exhaust vent of the Birkram Yoga studio blows warm moist air outdoors.

Someone told me the whole point of Bikram Yoga is that the heat draws toxins out of your body but if all that skinky air is vented out to the sidewalk into the faces of unsuspecting pedestrians, either (a) the toxins theory is bogus, or (b) Bikrams is spewing toxic waste including pesticides, pharmaceticals and heavy metals like mercury into the air. Rorschach, you have a degree in environmental toxicology--what's your opinion on this?

Apparently mercury toxicity increases with a rise in air temperature. If we sampled the air quality what would we find?
