I’m sure there are lots of other brands that import lots of raw materials or components and mainly sell overseas.
Boeing springs to mind. Their stock is down over 20% year to date.

I think you may have this backwards. He actually raises a point that I don’t think I’ve heard anybody from the Trump administration address. If his chocolate bars are sold globally, they are probably now subject to at least some of the counter-tariffs that some countries would have enacted. This effectively doubles the pressure to move manufacturing away from the US. He could make his chocolate bars in Mexico and not be subject to the tariffs on his raw inputs AND not lose market share in international markets due to higher consumer-facing prices.

His products were already being tariffed when he exported them. The US doesn’t want their exports being tariffed. That’s why they’re doing what they’re doing.
Manufacturing and production have historically left the US, partly because of the tariffs imposed on US goods. His issue appears to be counter tariffs now imposed by the US on imports he needs, which the Trump Admin says is part of the short term pain for the long term gain.
Or so they think. We’ll have to wait and see.
Boeing has had a lot of problems in recent years. The tariffs are likely the least concerning among them.

What global import tariffs have there been on his chocolate bars? Whatever they were, if any, they are higher now.
He’s now paying tariffs when he imports the ingredients and his products will be counter tariffed when imported into wherever. Penguin island, etc.
If he sets up shop in Penguin island, imports his cocoa there and exports finished candy bars, who is paying tariffs on imports from a Penguin island? Just the USA?

No, I don’t.
Matt explained it well.
Manufacturing has left the US almost entirely out of efforts to exploit cheap labour.

If he decides to open a factory in Canada that’s a win for us! Finally!

If he’s being tariffed by Canada now, maybe that’s what the issue is. I can’t imagine he sells lots of chocolates in China.

If he makes his bars on Penguin island, no tariffs into Canada, only into the USA. Flippers up!
