there is currently a post on Victoria rant and rave facebook page from a parent who found a used needle in drinking fountain right beside the playground.

Wait until people start finding them planted in the grass to try and prick people who come too close to the "homes".

Needle laced booby traps have been discovered by people in all sorts of scenarios. There also the incidents of needles affixed to railings in the downtown core, etc.

Know it all.

An aggressive peacock has been put into ‘solitary confinement’ after wreaking havoc on the front entranceway of a Douglas Street apartment building. The bird is safe, says Victoria Animal Control Services, but will be held there for some time.

how long can they legally hold that peacock without a trial?

plus the federal court ruled against solitary recently.

Probably got pushed out of its usual mating/nesting area by tents and disturbance. There was a story on Chek last night about a twenty-something guy who was threatened by a Beacon Hill tenter who also had a pitbull with him. Imagine a pitbull getting hold of a peacock.

also why can't the aggressive peacock mate on the land we stole from it?  the official solution is to put it "in solitary confinement" so it can't reproduce on its own terms?

Dude, you realize the peacocks are settlers, right? Same as the rabbits?

Victoria’s top cop says that while Victoria is still a safe city, an increase in random attacks across the region and a rise in calls for service in Beacon Hill Park is concerning. Victoria Police Chief Del Manak told CFAX 1070 Tuesday morning that public calls for service have increased by roughly 82 per cent in the Beacon Hill area compared to the same period in 2019, and reports of violent crimes in the area have risen by 29 per cent. Manak says some of the increase in crime can be attributed to tent encampments in the area...

...a member of our group went for a walk in the Garry Oak meadows in Beacon Hill Park yesterday. They saw a weedwacker in the encampment and many sensitive ecosystems and Garry Oak ground cover cleared by the weedwacker. Crack pipes, toilet paper with feces and evidence of fire. What looks like a new bike chop shop at Camas and Dallas has been established. Tenters are still in the biologically significant Garry Oak meadows that contain chocolate lilies and camas. They may never come back...

20,000 signatures on a petition and still the mayor and council turn a blind eye.

I note that with the standoff at the motel and staff refusing to work, Ms. Helps skipped her weekly presser at City hall today.

Didn't we see that this is why Topaz Park failed.

What worries me most is that UVIC is no longer a logical, ethical and moral institution. It is political.

Certain departments certainly are. I have been told by more than one person in the poly sci department that they are recruited each election to work and campaign for a specific candidate and party.
