Excellent! Blatant BS should be fought back against in a real way, not  just more BS like "elbows up." How come we didn't sue?

I guess they didn't buy enough canola!

"Update: our early findings confirm that imports of this product are being sold at unfair prices (dumped) and subsidized in Canada. Temporary duties will now apply as investigations continue."

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre sat down for an interview with “The Joe Rogan Experience” for a podcast episode set to be released Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Poilievre said he and Rogan recorded a full-length episode, which can run upwards of three hours.

Poilievre said Thursday morning that he used the podcast to argue that the United States should remove tariffs on Canadian sectors like steel, automobiles, aluminum and lumber.

“I thought we had a great conversation about how the United States would be best served by eliminating all the tariffs so that we can make life safer and more affordable for Americans and make paycheques bigger and our economy stronger for Canadians,” Poilievre said during a press conference in New York City.

Eby says he will sell B.C. as 'stable jurisdiction' during trade trip to China

Premier David Eby says the mission to China will deliver the same message as his trip to India earlier this year, which is that B.C. is a "stable jurisdiction in a very unstable time."

In turn I’m sure the Chinese will sell China as a big fan of the Uyghurs.

Provincial rules around alcohol and the federal government's "Buy Canadian" policy have been flagged in a new report citing several trade irritants between Canada and the U.S.

The annual document prepared by the Office of the United States Trade Representative said market access barriers imposed by provincial liquor control boards "greatly hamper" exports of U.S. wine, beer and spirits to Canada.

Several Canadian provinces pulled American booze from shelves last year after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs, and the document said the U.S. wants its alcohol to "immediately and permanently" return to all markets.

The document also raised concerns about the federal government's "Buy Canadian" procurement policy that aims to ensure Canadian products and workers are prioritized in contracts worth $25 million or more.

The report says U.S. companies have reported concerns about barriers in competing for contracts, including being forced to share information about their boards of directors or prove their Canadian subsidiary's independence from a U.S. parent company.

Other issues listed in the report include delays with aircraft validation in Canada and high tariffs on U.S. dairy products.

The report said U.S. imports above quota levels are subject to "prohibitively high tariffs," including 245 per cent for cheese and 298 per cent for butter.

The report said U.S. goods exports to Canada totalled $336.5 billion US in 2025, down almost down four per cent from 2024. It also said Canada was the second-largest U.S. goods export market last year.

Trade talks lagging

Trade talks with Canada ahead of the mandatory review of the continental trade pact are lagging behind those with Mexico, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said last month.

Greer told Fox Business that talks are moving ahead with his Mexican counterparts as the Trump administration negotiates changes to the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade, better known as CUSMA.

Carney’s too busy making trade talks with Conservative MPs.

Individually defensible, collectively disastrous. Well put. This IS what has been going on for the last 30 years.

Up in Cowichan the regional district wants to limit fences to 3.5 feet and generally make it near impossible for farmers to run successful farming operations.

That’s why they are protesting. Hopefully they increase the pressure.

We had family from the valley drop in yesterday. Salt of the earth farmers, one of whom is 83 and still as strong as a horse. They’ve been doing their thing for decades. They’re right peeved at the CVRD and say other farmers like them won’t have it. They say the regulations do not even comply with real-world realities, like fencing limited to 3.5 feet in some cases, when wire rolls come at 4’ lengths. It’s one example of many that they say is evidence of people imposing regulations that don’t understand the way of life in that area.

And they have to contend with elk over there. Good luck stopping those giants with little fences.

It’s because they are responding to ideas presented to them at the global conferences they go to. It’s not like their constituents are asking for this. There should be resignations over this.

It contradicts with the whole food security push, right? Make it harder for farmers to farm, in the name of food security.

This is a policy straight out of aastra’s guide.

I think they are trying to limit small “farms” that cause some nuisances. But they have gone much too far.

What push for food security? You mean eating bugs and lab grown meat?

I think they are trying to limit small “farms” that cause some nuisances. But they have gone much too far.

The obvious problem is the ALR, and the loopholes it permits.

The other problem is the silly daffodil farm program that must be a burden on bureaucracy, understandably. I have friends who have that status or are trying to get it, and it’s the silliest thing.
