Rebel News:
The NDP has just elected its most radical, most extreme, and most dangerous leader in the party's entire history.
His name is Avi Lewis. He won the NDP leadership on the first ballot with 56% of the vote, crushing his nearest rival by almost 20,000 votes.
You may not have heard much about him yet. But trust me — you will. Because Avi Lewis makes Zohran Mamdani, the radical socialist mayor of New York, look like a moderate.
Mamdani at least bothers to call himself a "democratic socialist." Avi Lewis openly demands the public ownership of the means of production. That's not democratic socialism. That's communism, full stop.
That's why today, Rebel News is launching a major research project into Avi Lewis. We've spent weeks digging into Avi Lewis's family dynasty, his elite private-school upbringing, his radical writings, his anti-Israel rants, and his bizarre policy positions.

Avi Lewis didn't just inherit politics. He inherited a family throne. His grandfather, David Lewis, led the federal NDP. His father, Stephen Lewis, led the Ontario NDP and was later appointed Canada's ambassador to the United Nations. Now Avi Lewis makes it three generations in a row. That's not a political party — that's a family business.
And like the rest of his clan, Avi is the textbook champagne socialist. He was sent to Upper Canada College, the most expensive private school in the country. As an adult, he and his wife, fellow far-left activist Naomi Klein, own homes in both Toronto and Vancouver. He pulls a $92,000 part-time salary from UBC despite not having the PhD normally required to teach there, and his wife collects $277,000 a year — with no degree at all.
That's the lifestyle of a man who lectures Canadian working families about "inequality" and demands they give up their truck, their gas furnace, and their steak dinners.
But the hypocrisy is just the appetizer.
Avi Lewis is the chief architect of the LEAP Manifesto — the 2015 manifesto he wrote demanding Canada shut down its entire fossil fuel industry, ban every new pipeline, offshore oil project and LNG terminal, and force a coast-to-coast "rapid decarbonization" of the economy. It was so radical that even Rachel Notley, the NDP premier of Alberta at the time, publicly denounced it for threatening Canadian energy jobs. And it gets worse: at the NDP's leaders' debate, Avi literally claimed that major resource projects are a conduit for "rape and murder," because they involve "big, manly things with huge work camps." Yes — he smeared the Canadian energy workers who heat your home as rapists and murderers.
On immigration, Avi wants to throw the borders wide open. He's calling for the end of the Safe Third Country Agreement — meaning anyone in the United States could simply walk across and claim asylum. He wants immigration pushed back up to 500,000 a year. He says we should "follow Spain's example" and grant mass amnesty to over a million illegal migrants.
On drugs, he wants legal, government-funded supply of heroin, fentanyl, and crystal meth — paid for by you, the taxpayer.
And on Israel, Avi Lewis is one of the most aggressive anti-Israel activists in Canadian public life. He calls Israel's defensive war against Hamas a "genocide." He calls himself an "anti-Zionist Jewish person" and claims Zionism is "linked inextricably to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine."
That is the new leader of Canada's NDP.
Here's our plan: www.AviLewis.com will be a living, breathing investigation. Every time Avi Lewis takes another radical position, we will document it, post the receipts, and send the report straight to your inbox. Sign up for free updates right at the top of the page.

Prime Minister Mark Carney's government is on track to borrow billions more than projected just weeks after releasing its Spring Economic Update, according to a new report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer.
The PBO's latest Economic and Fiscal Outlook projects federal deficits will exceed the government's own forecasts by an average of $4.6 billion annually, raising fresh concerns about Ottawa's spending and growing debt burden.
The federal government projected it would borrow $65 billion this fiscal year in its Spring Economic Update. The PBO now estimates borrowing will reach $72 billion, a difference of $7 billion.
The report also forecasts government spending will exceed budget projections by $5.7 billion this year.
The findings prompted criticism from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, which argued the government's spending plans are already proving unsustainable.
“Carney’s borrowing is already billions of dollars over budget compared to the Spring Economic Update,” said CTF federal director Franco Terrazzano.
