I mean this has been going on for years. We’ve heard this story from officialdom before.

But we're not allowed to talk about it because, murders happen in mansions too or something

“They embed themselves in the very facilities where people are vulnerable and marginalized. And then they’re able to exploit them, extort them out of their suites,” he said.

Just a reminder that there's a steep fine for anyone who extends this premise to any other aspects of life.

This is because the "have some compassion" paradigm breaks down when it's vulnerable vs. vulnerable  - who's side can we virtue signal with now?

This afternoon's image from the Nightmare on Pandora Avenue which I reported to the CoV bylaw enforcement - although I use the term "enforcement" lightly.

This wasn't even the worst of it, but I didn't want emphasize my presence any more than necessary, lest I become the latest addition to the city's stabbing victim registry.

The City of Victoria took a step Thursday toward banning overnight sheltering in two more city parks: Vic West Park and Irving Park in James Bay.

Council voted 7-2 in favour of having city staff and the city’s sheltering relocation co-ordinator partner with B.C. Housing and other service providers to find indoor shelter for those currently camping out in the two parks.

And when might the CoV look into the cleaning up of the 900 block of Pandora?

Did councillor Stephen Andrew not forward a motion, in 2021, calling to ban camping at Irving Park?

Know it all.

I don’t recall the SA motion, but I thought Irving Park had already been put on the no camping list.  Not that any of it matters anyway.  The issue is enforcement and I’ll believe the restrictions are serious when I see it.

The 900 block of Pandora is the perfect example of the non-enforcement of bylaws. Legally, there should be no tents in this area, but clearly the city turns a blind eye or more likely outright encourages it for political purposes.

I think the "them places" bears a direct responsibility on the chaos and criminal activity on that block. They sure are everything but a good neighbour.

I would also like someone to explain me what "temporary" in "temporary" housing means? For example, the 3200 block of Douglas stabbing victim had been living in the "temporary housing" facility for 4 years. At this point, isn't it permanent? Do we just give everyone on the streets a free home and call it a day? And we just keep giving more homes to more people - including criminals - without anyone ever leaving their "temporary" units for market units?

So will the Oaklands neighborhood be the winner here of this "lottery"?  This is disgusting how they are picking winners and losers and neighbourhoods to destroy.

Nearly a decade in our care:

Before he wound up at Crosstown, Nicholson – who also went by Ollie Aux – lived on the streets of Victoria for at least eight years.

Video from a 2016 CHEK News report shows Nicholson living in a tent behind Victoria’s courthouse, until officials dismantled the encampment that had grown on the property.

Then he moved temporarily into the Mount Edwards facility before transferring to the Choices facility in View Royal, run by Our Place Society.

Wow! Itd be interesting to know what percentage of them transition to real housing, and after how long, and for how long.
