The weirdness in victoria continues. Saw a guy screaming at a gas truck and spitting at it today. Clearly wasn’t well. Allowing people to languish on the streets is compassion? Weird. We know there’s solutions out there. But let’s keep letting things get worse, sounds like a great plan

And even if they had, we all know it would turn into a nightmare resulting in the police force being reinstated.  2020/21 has been a period where emotion has let the simpletons gain control.  It won't last.

I sure hope you are right, this bullshit is getting hard to take.

Interesting election results in the Seattle area.  The 'law and order' candidates clearly won in the election this week as people are tired of the violent crime and theft, sprawling homelessness and progressive policies of the current politicians.  It will take years to change the current situation that has been allowed to flourish in downtown Seattle and Ballard.  Unfortunately, Victoria TV candidates embraced those same policies and we have to wait a bit longer for our citizens to get rid of them.

However it’s Portland we are apparently obsessed to imitate, and Portlanders (?) haven’t shown any interest in getting their city back yet (and they are in worse shape than Seattle I think).

Agreed. Isitt and his marxist buddies have been unable to have the "workers unite" and overthrow the capitalist class so the next step was to join forces with the critical race theory clowns to create a race conflict.  The message is that the police, military and organized religion are white power structures used to keep other races under control. Fortunately most people in the BIPOC community see this for what it is and want no part of it.

The mayor wants to hire 300 officers over the next three years -- 200 armed officers and 100 public safety support specialists.

The OregonianLive reports that voters in Harney County on Tuesday approved a ballot measure which requires local officials to hold meetings about moving the county into Idaho. The measure passed with more than 63% of the vote. The unofficial results were: 1,567 for and 917 against.

Harney became the eighth of Oregon’s 36 counties to vote for considering adjusting Oregon’s border to put much of rural eastern and southern Oregon in Idaho.

Oregon and Portland are very different. The rest of Oregon wants to leave Portland and it’s madness behind.

Portland has lost large numbers of police officers, so this might just bring them back to where they were before Covid, but very difficult to recruit police officers in Portland lately.

I wonder if the Westshore wants to leave the CRD and become part of Cowichan?

Maybe Fairfield and Rockland can leave Victoria and join Oak Bay.

I have dreamed of that many times!! Even if it means picking up the tab for OB’s crumbling infrastructure! Haha

Couldn’t much worse than Victoria’s.  Nearly every street in the city is full of bumps, potholes and uneven seams from deteriorating previous repairs.  Of course with all the obstructions, curbs, barricades and ongoing road destruction projects you can rarely go more than 20km/hr, which does save wear and tear on the suspension.

I really hoping that we are more like Seattle this election. When I met my husband, he admitted voting for Lisa helps the first time she ran for mayor. He thought that if people didn’t want to work, they shouldn’t have to. Ummm… what? Now he can’t stand any of them and wants to vote them out. So hopefully a lot of people are feeling the same way

Sorry to disappoint you but of the 50 odd supplemental spending requests approved to be sent for discussion last night none were to improve the roads. In fact what will likely happen is that money for friends will be approved with the source being infrastructure reserves.

Colour me surprised.  But look at the bright side - soon the roads will become completely impassible, we won’t be able to drive and the planet will be saved.  Yeah!

You say that as though it's not actually the master plan of the CoV council.

These potholes also wreck bicycle rims.  There is some good that council has brought out of all of this.  One word fixes everything.  "Supermoto".......12 inches of suspension travel.  Or is that "Super Moto"?  OK two words.  Or is it "Supermotard"?

Forget Harley's......they bottom out.  No fun on a staircase.  Crappy at wheelies.

Like I said....potholes?  One word...."braaap".  Thanks Lisa!
