Then clearly people are coming from outside the CoV for the free camping.

Is that just a coincidence or is it a message?
Know it all.

homeless census in the park has grown 172 > 187 over the last week or so.

According to the last published homeless survey there were 135 people living rough (ie on the street). Since then we have provided at least 500+ free homes and expanded capacity at shelters yet we have 187 living rough in Beacon Hill plus whatever is in the other "camps". Either people are coming to Victoria in droves and/or the free houses are not being provided to those on the street but rather to others.
I bet this is 100% the reason why the Coalition to End Homeless is not releasing the 2020 homeless count.

Perhaps the CoV has a Soylent Green factory that we don't know about and their open-arms invitation for homeless is a secret plan to herd more raw ingredients for their product?
Actually I'm hoping that's what's happening.

Affordable housing - brought to you by property devaluation! This city is committed to ensuring housing is affordable, like it is in Detroit. How are they going to get there - well, rampant crime and business closures will mean that people will flee the city. People will have to accept less for their homes, but who cares! They were privileged to own them in the first place - they must fall so others can rise. They'll recover after they move - we don't want those colonialist jerks here anyways, we need homes for the homeless.

Nothing is really shocking these day, but even I almost chocked to hear last night that, despite a 10,000 signature petition demanding the contrary, council passed a motion officially condoning camping in BHP. My only hope is those 10,000 will remember this on Election Day. That many votes cast as a block is enough to elect or defeat anyone on council. Oh, to add insult to injury, Helps had the gall to blame Bonnie Hardy for the decision.

That’s a relief! Nevertheless, the BHP population is still growing...

So I see the winter soccer field in BHP has been set up with a porta-potty (again), and a table and access to water via a hose. I guess they are planning to grow the “business there”
I would be genuinely surprised if something official and semi-permanent doesn't eventually get set up there. A formal campground or containers or something. Like I say, the various levels of government have had their sights on BHP for more than a hundred years. If it does happen I bet a donut it will be portrayed as some sort of compromise, as if people should be pleased to be losing just a big chunk of park space rather than absolutely all of it.

The systematic destruction of Victoria by this council is tragic. I am counting the days until I can move elsewhere.

It would be really funny if the CoV's politicians and their pet issues relocated up there with you.
