Ideas pour in for future of Sooke Region Museum

 

 

When Sooke-area residents were asked for suggestions for the future of the Sooke Region Museum, they delivered.

 

More than 1,900 people from all areas of the region, from East Sooke to Port Renfrew, responded to the call for ideas, said Doni Eve, president of the Sooke Region Historical Society.

“You told us that most hold a positive impression of the museum and offered many great ideas on ways to make your experience at the museum better.”

 

Suggestions included adding more Indigenous stories, workshops, talks, tours and hands-on opportunities, as well as requests for more about the region’s natural heritage, animal life and overall geography.

 

The ideas for the museum, which will mark its 50th anniversary in 2027, came from an online survey, an open house and focus groups.
